Jim Gearhart was aghast to read the accounts from women’s rights activists Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Asra Nomani — both of whom rail against the impact Islamist extremism has on women — when they spoke to a Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

If you're a regular listener of Jim Gearhart's podcast, or you enjoyed his 25-year stint leading New Jersey 101.5's morning show, we're not telling you anything new by saying he doesn't enjoy political correctness.

But some stories, Jim says, are more absurd than others.

"I just throw these out as a couple of examples of how we've gone stark raving damn mad," Jim says

New Jersey 101.5 couldn't have been happier to welcome Jim Gearhart back into the fold earlier this year when it debuted the new Jim Gearhart Show podcast. But he's not the only familiar voice returning on this download.

Mike Lavelle, Jim's longtime partner ("nowadays you have to clarify that," Jim notes), joined this week's podcast alongside his wife, New Jersey 101.5 traffic reporter Jill Myra.

It's laughs from the very start.

Jim was incensed — a lot of people were — when he read about Sanders' questions of Russell Vought, nominated by President Trump to be deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget.

In a hearing earlier this month, Sanders suggested Vought's belief that non-Christians are condemned to hell amounted to Isamaphobia and perhaps anti-Semitism.

When Chris Christie ducked a pretty simple question by veteran columnist Paul Mulshine with a nasty swipe about drinking, it left a bad taste in Jim Gearhart's mouth.

Jim's always valued Paul's advice on good beer. And he's always had an affection for good beer — one he can trace to his early childhood, when he was 2-year-old "Mouse" Gearhart.

At the onset, Jim was cheering on Governor Chris Christie as he took on the state's largest unions and changing the way the state of NJ did business. Many admired him. One re-election later, the NJ voters were ready to tar and feather him in the town square. Then it became a situaion of "dog pile on the rabbit." The sense of betrayal may be the governor's lasting legacy more than anything else.

Jim also looks at the battle between President Trump and our court judges. Have we become a reality TV series for those on other planets? It sure seems that we're heading in that direction.

It's not that New Jersey politicians can't cut programs, can't cut taxes, Jim Gearhart says. Fiscally, there's no reason they can't make it happen.

But politically? Lots of luck with those cuts.

Jim Gearhart has never liked political correctness.

"I loathe it. I abominate it. I excoriate it. I abhor it," he says in the latest edition of the Jim Gearhart Show podcast.

But he finds get-in-your-face podcasts even more pointless. He's got a suggestion he's borrowing from the Russian army — if your backside can take the exposure.

We don't need to tell you – New Jersey wastes a lot of money.

But Jim Gearharts remembers what may have been the biggest waste in the state's history. In 2005, the director of the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation admitted "money was wasted" under his watch, in a short statement announcing he was stepping down.

"What? Four billion dollars disappeared into thin air. ... And I guess the ruling was, well, that's normal for New Jersey."

People started laughing when political correctness first burst on the scene in the '90s. Now, all these years later, we are still dealing with it and it just keeps getting worse. But why? Why do we keep going along with it? When do we just say enough already?

It seems like the old addage, "The more things change, the more they stay the same" rings true.
