This episode walks through the public record step by step so people can see the timeline for themselves.  (This episode won't make sense unless you watch the last one)

On December 4, Ron Smith personally made the motion to move forward with the process to fill a vacancy on the Board of County Commissioners. He stated the process was appropriate, there was no discussion or objection raised, and he voted in favor of it along with the rest of the Board. The motion passed unanimously.

Between December 4 and December 12, the meeting minutes show no objections, no concerns raised about the process, and no statements claiming it was improper or that anyone had been excluded.

On December 12, Ron formally recused himself from the appointment process. After that date, he publicly stated that the process was improper and involved what he described as backroom deals. Those explanations appear in local newspaper reporting and in a radio interview he gave after the December 4 vote. They do not appear in the minutes at the time the process was approved.

To be clear, we only know what is in the public record. We know what the minutes say, what was reported in the newspaper, and what Ron said publicly on the radio. We do not know what may have happened behind the scenes or what Ron personally encountered, and this episode does not rule anything out.

What the record does show is that if there were objections to the process, they were not raised in a public meeting when the decision was made. Instead, Ron later recused himself and then deliberately missed nine properly noticed meetings whose sole purpose was to carry out a mandatory Charter duty. Each of those meetings required staff preparation, notice, and time, costing taxpayers money while no action could be taken.

This episode does not ask listeners to attack anyone. It simply lays out what happened, in order, using the public record, and asks whether objections to government process should be raised publicly and on the record rather than through inaction after the fact.

This episode documents how county business in Josephine County has stalled, including what Commissioner Ron Smith told the public via our local newspaper, what actions followed, and what the County Charter, County Code, and Oregon law actually require.

It explains why the 30-day language in the Charter does not necessarily remove a sitting commissioner’s authority, why recusal does not eliminate the duty to vote, and how repeated inaction has delayed required county action at taxpayer expense.

The episode also examines a confirmed case in Jefferson County, West Virginia, where two county commissioners deliberately skipped meetings to avoid voting on the appointment of a new commissioner, denying quorum and stopping county business. (sound familiar folks?) Those commissioners were arrested, charged with 42 misdemeanor counts for failure to perform official duties, and removed from office, with the removals upheld by the state Supreme Court.

This is a fact-based breakdown of law, conduct, and outcome, presented so the public can understand how refusing to act can carry serious consequences.

Bring receipts, logic, law, or statistics and suddenly you’re “offensive.” 

Correct them and you’re “dangerous.” 

Disagree and you’re labeled evil, a bigot, or a threat to democracy. Why? Because they don’t debate. They deflect. When feelings replace facts, the truth gets labeled as hate speech.

This show is for people who are tired of being talked down to, gaslit, and fed recycled talking points. Hey folks, in this episode I put two documents on the screen that were released today and walk through what they actually say, not what certain groups want you to believe they say.

One document comes from Restore Josephine County, the same group actively pushing recalls against county commissioners. They claim this “isn’t about personalities or politics,” while doing exactly that. We also look at a second document criticizing the commissioners’ white paper and asking the public to trust materials produced by recall organizers instead of official county information released by the county.
