On the show tonight, we begin with the Preakness, and if you didn’t see Thursday’s show, you missed me giving the Preakness superfecta. I reviewed the race, pointed a few things out with the race as well as some of the mathematics of why it’s harder to make money with a Preakness super as opposed to a Kentucky Derby superfecta. Joe also talks about the Baffert horse that broke down on the undercard as well as what horses are targeting the Belmont Stakes and who aren’t.

I start talking about some t-shirts that I have. I had my “Ayahuasca Is For Lovers” t-shirt on from the Dan Patrick Show, and as a result I told a story of me wearing my Eagles Super Bowl 52 themed shirt, but my manager didn’t pull me into a video conference yesterday for my feedback session. Then we talk about Lebron hinting at a possible retirement. Personally, I think despite the age, why hasn’t Lebron begged for a 2-3-2 best of 7 format? It’s two less times on an airplane in a 7-game series, especially flying from LA to Memphis.

Then ThePenguinAZ and then DonnWann both join me. We continue the Lakers/LBJ talk and then after PAZ leaves the chat, and DonnWann continues with me as we talk more, this time with the Dodgers, Las Vegas Raiders and more.

After DonnWann leaves the knocker room, I have some NFL updates. Super Bowl 60 will be in the San Francisco Bay area. Maybe they’ll stop whining about the “unfair opportunity” of losing to the Eagles by that time. They’ll have a third QB dressing without it counting towards the 47 players on the active roster. Also, if a receiving team fair catches any kickoff, they’ll get the ball at their 25-yard line. This is similar to the college rule where you can fair catch a kick inside either the 5 or 10-yard line. Also, Amazon gets the flex option for weeks 13 to 17. Joe details the requirements and the two games that fall into the requirements for the Eagles.

PlayActionReal mentions the Flyers playing the Devils at the Meadowlands next February. I apologized for hockey fans outside the Flyers and Devils fanbases that have to watch the orange and black. I was somewhat kidding, because the Flyers draw eyes, even when they aren’t a good team.

Glen Kuiper was fired for his racial slur during pregame of an Oakland Athletics game. Joe thinks why wasn’t he fired on the spot. Proving firing with cause? Either way, what Glen Kuiper was unacceptable and worthy of firing him with cause as soon as that game was over.

Finally with the PGA Championship, Joe could talk about Brooks Koepka winning the tourney for the LIV crew, but Joe mentioned the story of Michael Block, who went from a Club Pro Qualifying tournament to a viral hole in one moment on the back 9 to a top-15 finish, which qualifies him for next year’s PGA Championship as well as getting an exemption for this week’s tourney. Joe calls it a “Tin Cup” moment, but without the shady stuff that Roy McAvoy did according to the plot of the movie.

On the show tonight, we begin with some random talk there. Joe gave an update of what to expect between now and the Belmont Stakes for The Philly Guy Speaks.

The horse racing news begins with the announcement that retired NYRA race caller Tom Durkin will return to the booth for this year’s Belmont Stakes in three weeks on Fox. Joe explains why it’s not Larry Collmus calling on the Fox broadcast and hopes Durkin FINALLY calls a Triple Crown winner.

Then Joe breaks down the Preakness. Joe warns that if you watched the Bleacher Brothers show on Wednesday night, it’s more in depth with video of certain horses with some recent races with his commentary, and finally his picks for the race.

Then ThePenguinAZ joins Joe and we talk about the Lakers game and I update the Panthers/Hurricanes game which was still going on when the show ended.

On the show tonight, Joe begins with some breaking news. First, Yankee Domingo German was caught with a foreign substance on his hand and ejected in Toronto. He must mot be that bright if he got caught after Max Scherzer was caught a few weeks ago. Joe also wonders if there was something going on with Aaron Judge looking into the dugout last night.

Locally in Philly, the big news was the Sixers firing Doc Rivers today. Joe is not surprised, and when you can’t get to an Eastern Conference Final in three years, complicated by an embarrassing loss in game 7, he had to go. But Joe saw this coming in the second quarter with James Harden’s “flagrant foul 1” in the second quarter. He thought it was a letter of the law call and not necessarily the correct call. Joe felt it was a precursor for what happened later on in the game.

Mickey mentioned in the chat that Pat McAfee’s show will be on ESPN in the fall. Good for him, but it doesn’t look good when all these employees are getting laid off while McAfee gets hired right after that.

Then Joe wheels back to the Sixers head coach opening and talks about NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark’s Facebook post about an offshore book’s odds to become the next head coach. Joe doesn’t know who he wants yet, but he wouldn’t mind checking in on former Villanova coach Jay Wright or South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, who grew up in North Philly.

Bryce Harper was ejected Sunday and Joe reviews that incident. He probably won’t get suspended, but Jake Bird was talking way too much smack for a guy that was wilder than Ricky Vaughn in Major League. Joe wonders if he’d talk that much if there was no DH in baseball. Also, Colorado pitcher was knocked out of the game on Saturday night as Ryan Feltner took a line drive from Nick Castellanos off the back of his head, fracturing his skull. He was in the hospital overnight for observation, but he appears to be okay, though he will miss time.

Next, Joe wonders where in the world is Angel Hernandez. Yeah, it’s nice that we don’t have to deal with his crap on a nightly basis, but he mysteriously disappeared after only umpiring one game on April 3. We think it’s medical, but we can’t confirm. Even though he’s a horrible umpire, some people, including me that if this is medical, we wish him well.

Then we see why Joe votes via mail. COVID? No. Joe’s not afraid of that. He feels he can be more creative with his write in candidates, like he was for the Philly Democratic Sheriff’s race and for an uncontested City Council race.

Finally, Joe sees a potential issue when he goes to Vegas in two weeks. He will be landing around the end of game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. That 5 to 10 minute taxi from the airport to his hotel across the street from the arena could be a long one.

On the show tonight, Joe begins with why he played Monty Python’s “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life”. Philly radio legend John DeBella announced his retirement effective June 30. Joe also uses this as his personal theme song and mantra.

Then Joe goes over the schedule. He reviews all the prime time games (Thursday, Sunday and Monday games) as well as the Christmas and Black Friday games. Joe isn’t going to react to the schedule now and gives his record for all the teams. That will come in September.

Flyers announced Keith Jones as the new President of the Flyers, and took the interim GM tag off of Danny Briere’s title. Joe tries to be optimistic, but when you have the best Flyer filling the position and not necessarily the best person for the job. Maybe Joe wanted Ed Olczyk a little too much, because he wanted to cross paths with Edzo at Parx on a random Monday or Tuesday. But whatever the reason, Joe thinks new CEO/Governor of the Flyers, Dan HIlferty went back on saying that he’d get the best person and not the best Flyers alum for the job.

Brewers dropped 8th inning beer sales after they found out that all concession sales drop after the 7th inning. Joe didn’t think of that variable when he said that the extension of beer sales were dangerous to the public.

Joe commemorated an odd anniversary as it was one year ago Wednesday (5/10) that someone tried to get into his apartment while participating in the Free4All Show. Joe explains what he was hearing as he was on that show.

Bronny is going to USC, and I wonder if the NIL money trumped the G League money.

Nick Gilbert, son of the Cleveland Cavaliers owner passed away at 26. Joe was affected by his passing, because he knows someone who has NF.

Ben Simmons expects to play for Team Australia in the FIBA World Cup. But Joe jokes he’s like Antinio Brown, they don’t want him. Yes, I am joking about Ben not being wanted by the Aussie team!

Joe begins by giving, by request, to give fellow alum Chris Garrity discredit for his Kentucky Derby pick. Breaking news: Mandarin Hero was my pick too! Double loser horns to start the show! Joe plays the race and points out things on the race like Derma Sotogake having a bad start in the race, the speed duel that unexpectedly developed, and how you didn’t want to be on the lead with that torrid pace. Mage should be running in the Preakness next, Two Phil’s will not be, and Forte can’t run because he is on Kentucky’s 14-day vet list, which prevents him from leaving the grounds until he clears himself off the list.

Joe makes some Sixers points after the impressive game 5 win. Until the Sixers get that fourth win, Joe isn’t counting out Boston. There’s also a fun fact he throws your way.

Then Joe raises some interesting points about the NHL Draft Lottery last night. Joe plays the last part of the lottery, and shows the point that NHL screwed up with their broadcast of the results of the lottery, and an interesting point that not many people may have seen. Was it fixed? Maybe, maybe not. But remember who Gary Bettman worked for before becoming the NHL Commissioner. All Joe will say is that there were too many predictable finishes to NBA seasons and series under David Stern.

While still on hockey, Joe talks about Edmonton’s national anthem. Joe thinks it embarrasses America. Why? Because the pride that Canada has blows away the pride of Americans. That rendition of Oh Canada last night gave Joe chills, as did a sample video from 6 years ago. Joe highly doubts you will see that in America, excluding Chicago Blackhawk games. What they do is something totally different.

Then Joe talks schedule leaks. Dodgers and Padres are rumored to start the 2024 MLB season in Korea. It was announced today that the Phillies and Mets are going to play in London in 2024 (sorry London for all those God awful Mets fans who cross the pond!). Then Momma Kelce on Facebook leaked a few games, including week 2 where the Eagles and Chiefs would have their rematch in KC. Joe thinks that makes zero sense knowing the Phillies schedule in September.

Finally, apologies here because Joe says Duane Kuiper on the pod. It was Glen Kuiper who dropped the n-bomb on an Oakland pregame show. Note: No Filter does not condone the n-word, nor does Bleacher Brothers. Joe wanted to point out that this is totally unacceptable compounded by the fact that Kuiper did not apologize until the 6th inning. What took so long?

The 10-horse Practical Move is out after spiking a temperature, and the 19-horse Lord Miles was scratched after Saffie Joseph was suspended by the Kentucky Racing Commission. Details are given.

Then Joe goes through the Kentucky Oaks, which runs around 5:50 pm. Joe gives his thoughts on each filly running, and gives his superfecta for the race. Then ThePenguinAZ knocks (a great interactive feature we have on NoFilter.net, so join us!) and I answer a few horse racing questions.

Then Joe goes through some more horses, and Joe points out some of the horses he likes and doesn’t. ThePenguinAZ returns and we talk some more, and we even talk about my online radio station power109radio.us that I “own” (I hate using that word, but I do “own” it). We start talking about random music stuff and what I provide in terms of the variety of music on my site.

Then Joe finishes up his picks and gives out his 5-horse superfecta. Hint: I did change my top pick from when I was on The Bleacher Brothers show on Wednesday night!

On the Tuesday TPGS show, Joe begins with the news that Bryce Harper returns the lineup today only 160 days removed from Tommy John surgery. Joe thinks that the fact that the designated hitter along with Harper’s work ethic sped up the return date.

Then Joe mentions the latest NBA news where Joel Embiid was named NBA MVP earlier tonight. Joe thought it was great that Embiid had everyone together with him when he was interviewed, because even though it was an individual award, he recognized that it was a team effort that he was chosen the most valuable player. Joe also thinks that there was voter fatigue (correcting the term here that Joe used on stream) with Jokic and Giannis having won MVPs in the past.

Sixers won game 1 without Embiid in Boston and the Sixers have a good shot to win the series now. Joe thinks that it’s nice to win one game on the road, but since you’re there, why not win both?
The Boston Bruins choked, losing the final three games of their series to the Florida Panthers. Joe compared the Bruins to the 1991 UNLV team that was undefeated all year, having no competition until meeting up with Duke who had revenge on their minds from the previous season’s national championship game. Florida didn’t necessarily have revenge on their minds, but they were in playoff mode leading up to the playoffs, unlike Boston.

Then Joe steers away from sports for a few minutes and realizes that he has his mail in ballot that he has to fill out for the Pennsylvania primary. Joe doesn’t get his ballot mailed to him because he’s afraid of COVID (he’s not afraid of that), but because he can anonymously (sorta) vote for some funny names in uncontested races.

The Florida Panthers as we know advanced to the second round, and they are restricting Toronto Maple Leafs fans from buying tickets through Ticketmaster. VPNs won’t work, because Ticketmaster will track the credit cards addresses, and if it’s from outside the US, your purchase is cancelled. But Toronto fans still have the second hand market if they want to go to the games in Florida, though it will cost more.

Then Joe gave some initial horse racing thoughts and tips for the Kentucky Derby. Joe is trying to wait until Thursday to make his picks. Joe showed the effects of the new starting gate that is used exclusively for mile-and-a-quarter races, which it the distance to be run on Saturday evening. Joe shows the new gate is one gate of 20 stalls, and takes up less space, giving the horse in the first gate a better chance at not ending up slamming into the rail. Joe shows the old gate, where there was an auxiliary gate of six stalls, and the regular gate of 14 attached to the auxiliary. Though Joe did not have the proper video, but Joe explained that the horse in that first gate would be looking straight at the rail and not the dirt of the top of the stretch.
