Exclusive polling by Ipsos for Global News shows 19% of Canadians and their partners say they rarely, if ever, have sex. The highest rates of sexless relationships are in Alberta (27%), Saskatchewan (25%) and Manitoba (25%). 19% of people polled in BC are in a sexless relationship. 41% say its made their union weaker. So.. why stay?

In the wake of the unspeakable tragedy on Toronto’s Danforth carried out by an unstable man with a handgun, the federal government says it’s considering a ban on such weapons. Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says tightening of laws around handguns is a possibility but has warned that it will be a complicated process.

Chapter 9: Making Cents of the Markets
Canadian inflation is creeping up, increasing 2.5% over a one-year basis in June, following a 2.2% increase in the previous month. Analysts were expecting inflation to climb 2.3%. The Bank of Canada has been raising interest rates, currently at 1.5%, and the OECD released a report that said they expect rates to be at 2% by 2019.

Canada’s foreign affairs minister Chrystia Freeland was the brainchild behind a risky, top-secret plan to save more than 1200 workers belonging to Syria’s civil defence force.

Two fires burning near the Greek capital Athens have left dozens dead and thousands of properties destroyed, in what’s being described as the deadliest fires to hit the region in decades. The dead include 26 people found clasped together on a cliff top, as they tried to escape the inferno. We spoke to veteran journalist Liana Spyropolou - who’s been covering the disaster for German publication Bild
