Chapter 5: Recovery Options in BC - Part 1
-This month a new report was released by the BC Centre for Substance Use that calls for better recovery options for people with addiction. The report recommends a: “shift from a provincial health-system approach that has historically focused on harm reduction and acute treatment, to an approach that better supports the full continuum of care, from harm reduction through to long-term recovery-oriented, abstinence-based interventions.
Chapter 6: Recovery Options in BC - Part 2
-The BC Centre for Substance Use is calling for more long-term recovery centres and programs, as well as programs that are aimed at people who don’t fit the stereotype of a drug user. To talk more about why BC needs long term drug rehab solutions are two students currently enrolled at the John Volken Academy - a two year addiction therapeutic recovery program in Surrey.

Chapter 9: Mayors Day - Mobility Pricing
-In May, an independent commission examining the effectiveness of mobility pricing found that it could cost the average household $8 a day - but it could be up to five years before anything is implemented. The report identified two possible options.
Chapter 10: Mayors Day - Highway One Congestion
-The increasing number of people moving away from downtown Vancouver (to be able to afford to live in this province!) means even more motorists on Highway One. Congestion and bottlenecks are daily struggles for drivers in the Fraser Valley. Statistics from the transportation ministry show the number of cars travelling from Abbotsford and Chilliwack daily numbered 45,500. In 2017, that figure reached 53,000.
Chapter 11: Mayors Day - Announcement for Abbotsford Airport
-Today, the transport minister and mayor will make a special ‘funding’ announcement about the Abbotsford international airport. The hub has taken off as a viable option to YVR, offering cheaper parking, easy check in and the greater international connections for people in Abbotsford, Langley and Chilliwack.
