On Thursday, the BC government announced the minimum wage in this province will increase to $15.20/hour by June 2021. Increases will come in monitored stages, with the first increase set to take place this June with wages increasing from $11.35/hour to $12.65/hour.

BC leads the country in having the highest rate of working poverty. A $15/hr minimum wage will mean a raise for 400,000 workers across BC who are working for less than that.  But does this wage increase go far enough to lift the levels of poverty in BC?

We’ve been discussing the Pipeline vs Grapevine dispute over the past couple of days and John Daly joins the show to tease his program “Back on the Beat”, and they will delve further into the issue.

In this day and age is it still appropriate to date someone in your office?  We've heard a lot about harrassment in the workplace in recent months and thanks to the #metoo movement and high profile cases, some are looking at taking a zero tolerance toward being "friendly" in the workplace.  Google and Facebook have a new policy that states you can ask out a co-worker once, and if they turn you down, move on.  Anything past that is considered harassment.  What do you think about this policy?

Chapter 1:

-A couple big software and internet companies are setting up some guidelines in order to curb sexual harassment in the workplace.  According to Google and Facebook you get one chance to ask out a co-worker and if they reject you then that’s where the relationship ends.

Chapter 2:

-The British Columbia government will raise the minimum wage to $15.20 an hour by June 2021. Premier John Horgan announced Thursday morning that the province has decided to make increases every year on June 1 after reviewing recommendations from the Fair Wages Commission.

It’s time to #toastthecoast!  A celebration of BC Wines is trending online and across the country where Canadians are buying up BC wines in order to show solidarity and protest the Alberta NDP government using BC’s wine industry as a bargaining chip in the dispute over the Kinder Morgan Pipeline.

Environmental activists and others in Quebec have started buying B.C. wine in what they call a statement of solidarity with the West Coast after Alberta Premier Rachel Notley said her province would stop taking imports from its western neighbour.  The campaign, which has rallied around the hashtag #QClovesBCwine, began on Tuesday, the same day that Notley announced that the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) would put an “immediate halt on the import of B.C. wine into Alberta.”
