Chapter 1:

-Dozens of people demonstrated their anger and frustration at a rally against the NDP’s maximum allowable rent increases. The provincial government will allow landlords to hike up rents by 4.5% - the biggest increase in 14 years. What kind of pain will this bring to your wallet, and, can you absorb the cost?

Chapter 2:

-Remember to put aside some canned food items this evening when you get home from work because the Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s 3rd annual Citywide Food Drive is on tomorrow (Saturday, September 15). And with Thanksgiving around the corner, the demand is very real - in fact, the food bank assists more than 27-thousand people each week!

Chapter 3:

-Candidate for Surrey Mayor (and two term city councillor) Bruce Hayne says he’s seen no updated or detailed business case for light rail in Surrey. Despite that, he’s in favour of LRT along the Fraser Highway out to Langley, but adds that there must be public consultation.

Chapter 4:

-BC based writer and researcher Vivian Krause claims there’s a coordinated effort to try and demonise the Canadian oil industry and stop the Kinder Morgan pipeline. 10 years ago, a group of seemingly independent environmentalists were formed under the banner 350.org, and they hatched a strategy targeting Canadian oil. So, Who are these people?

The two Andrews are going after the speculation tax.  Liberal Andrew Wilkinson and Green Party Andrew Weaver say a speculation tax unfairly targets British Columbians.  The Vancouver Sun's Vaughn Palmer is here with his take on the day's headlines.

-It was an emotional night for players, fans and supporters of the Humboldt Broncos, who took to the ice for their regular season opening game against the Nipawin Hawks last night, attempting to emerge from the grip of tragedy for first time since the bus crash in April that killed 16 players and staff.

Chapter 2:

-Doug McCallum wants to dump the controversial LRT system for Surrey if he becomes mayor, but now he’s going even further, saying he’ll build a Skytrain line to White Rock.

Chapter 3:

-A report by the Veterans Ombudsperson has slammed the federal government for making injured veterans wait months longer than promised for benefits and other supports. 70% of veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq have had to wait an average of 23 or 29 weeks to find out whether they’re eligible for financial assistance or medical treatment for injuries related to their service.

-Has Ogopogo been spotted in Lake Okanagan?! If you’re a skeptic...you’re right to be so. The video footage is shaky at best and the Pink Floyd song playing in the background makes you wonder what state of mind the men may have been in when the video was captured!

Chapter 2:

-BC’s soaring house prices are making the rich richer, while the rest of us languish. One fifth of wealthy households own 62% of the net worth of principal property in BC. 60% of the least wealthy own a 13% share of principal residence net worth(bottom two quintiles own nothing at all). The housing crisis we’re in in BC is also an inequality crisis.

Chapter 3:

-How do you feel about a video that reveals the identity of strikebreakers? Unifor posted a video online called “Meet the Scabs.” It shows workers who are crossing the picket line to replace striking workers in Gander, Newfoundland.

-14 months after the 13 year old Burnaby teen was found dead in Central Park, police announced they’d arrested and charged a man over her death. 28 year old Ibrahim Ali is facing a first degree murder charge.

Chapter 2:

-Four days after quietly announcing landlords will be allowed to increase rent by 4.5% next year, the NDP is yet to roll out a spokesperson. Neither housing minister Selina Robinson, nor chair of the NDP’s Renters Task Force Spencer Chandra Herbert responded to multiple requests to come on this program.  The NDP says it’s listened to the frustrations of tenants. But has it really!? What drove this increase?

Chapter 3:

-The party will look to reset during the three-day gathering in Surrey this week. Leader Jagmeet Singh will attempt to reinvigorate his team, and his popularity.

Chapter 4:

-The Vision Vancouver candidate cites the “political landscape” and “complicated personal journey” for withdrawing from the Vancouver mayoral race. The Squamish nation hereditary chief’s move came as a surprise. The party says it’ll have more to say about where to next, in the coming days.

Chapter 5:

-In a week long series from Portugal, Vancouver Sun columnist Daphne Brabham examines whether the lessons learned in that country, can be applied to Vancouver.
