-The City of Vancouver has green-lighted the construction of duplexes in 99% of single family neighbourhoods in Vancouver, after two days of tense community input and debate at public hearings.

-As Canada approaches legalisation of marijuana on October 17, many Canadians are confused about what their rights are at the border.  What about those who work in a dispensary? And specifically, provincial cannabis employees?

Larry Campbell, the independent Senator who sits on the board of Great Canadian Gaming, the parent company of the beleaguered River Rock Casino, and also served on a powerful committee tasked with reviewing budgets and finances, when asked a simple question about money laundering in BC Casinos responded "I have no idea what you're talking about".  How is that possible?

Chapter 1:

-The federal government continues to deny veterans and their families service dogs, despite a government commissioned report done by Laval University showing the animals are effective in treating PTSD and related mental health issues.

Chapter 2:

-Last night, dozens of people attended a residents meeting where they voiced concerns about a construction for up to 60 units of supportive housing planned for downtown Cloverdale (corner 58th Avenue and 176A Street). The problem? The proposal will house people who have a history of homelessness and drug addiction (many of whom will likely be relocated from the recently shut down Whalley Strip), and many people claim there’s been a lack of public consultation. There are also concerns there’s are no nearby support services for people with drug/mental health problems.

Chapter 3:

-The former mayor of Vancouver-turned-Senator has quietly stepped down from one of the most influential positions in the Senate, the standing committee on internal economy and budgets - a position he’s held since 2015. Questions are now being raised about his involvement with the committee, and his position on the board of Great Canadian Gaming (a role he’s held since 2008), the company that owns BC’s infamous River Rock Casino, which is at the centre of the province’s money laundering scandal.

Mike Farnworth is concerned about mounting US threats to block entry to anyone involved in any way in marijuana legalization in this country. -We are finally learning more about what led to Vision Vancouver mayoral candidate Ian Campbell quitting the race for mayor. Global News has learned Campbell was charged with assaulting his partner eight years ago, but the charge was dropped. Campbell was also charged and pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention “at or near West Vancouver” in 2006.  Do political parties not vet their candidates anymore?

Chapter 2:

-Global News has learned dozens of Canadian business have received next to nothing in tariff duty relief two months (July 1st) after Ottawa slapped retaliatory tariffs on US imports in response to levies on Canadian steel and aluminum. Only $11,000 has been dished out to businesses, despite Ottawa taking in $286 million in the months since imposing the payback tariffs.

Chapter 3:

-The former high flying CBC host has emerged from imposed exile to write about his life after being accused of sexual assault by numerous women, including those he worked with.

There is growing municipal backlash over the speculation tax with the legislature resuming this fall.  Will Andrew Weaver lead a charge to scrap this tax? The Province newspaper's Michael Smyth is here with his take on the day's headlines.

Chapter 1:

-An exclusive investigation by Global News has found the Trudeau Liberals have left $372 million allocated for veterans unspent since taking office in November 2015. It’s the exact thing Justin Trudeau criticised the former Harper government for.

Chapter 2:

-The BC Liberals refused to waive cabinet confidentiality as per Eby request. In a statement provided to Global News, Attorney General David Eby said he was disappointed Wilkinson wouldn’t hand over the documents, which the government has promised would be kept confidential.  

Chapter 3:

-Plans for 60 units of supportive housing in the Cloverdale downtown core have been rejected by businesses there, amid ‘safety concerns’.  The units, which were for people with a history of homelessness, were to be built on 176A and 58th Avenue but about 90% of businesses in the area surveyed were opposed to it.

Chapter 4:
