August 28, 2018A New NAFTA, Faulty Roadside Testing & A New High Tech SchoolChapter 1:-Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland has touched down in Washington DC as she prepares to negotiate with the Trump administration on an overhauled NAFTA deal, announced by Trump yesterday. The new agreement won’t be called NAFTA, instead it’ll be named the United States Mexico Trade Agreement.Chapter 2:-The federal government has given the go-ahead for the Drager 5000, a saliva drug test device which can detect THC, the main psychoactive component of cannabis. With marijuana legalisation looming on October 17, manufacturers will be working overtime to roll out the devices to law enforcement. But the devices will cost up to $10,000 each, they don’t work at temperatures below 4 degrees, and there are concerns the readings are only 80% accurate.Chapter 3:-BC's newest high school opens its door to students next week in Surrey's Clayton Heights. Salish Secondary will welcome half the students from Lord Tweedsmuir and half from Clayton Heights Secondary that were both overcrowded. The 55-million-dollar "Salish" has capacity for nearly two-thousand students.
