Old school self improvement doesn’t work because it forces you to change without having you step back and acknowledge what’s going on or why the behavior you’re trying to change was there in the first place.
Here's a fresh take on it. Instead of just positive thinking or changing beliefs, try this 3-step approach:
1. Notice what's happening in your body and mind.
2. How wouldn't you want to act in that situation?
3. How would you want to act instead?
It's all about giving yourself the CHOICE, instead of just forcing yourself to respond a new “better” way or defaulting & falling into patterns because you’re used to them . Give it a try and see how it changes things for you!

_____________
As long as you hold onto this idea, losing weight or just getting closer to your fitness goal is always going to be harder for you.
That's the idea that weightloss or some goal will "make you happier" or when you finally get back to what you weighed in college you'll no longer feel the way you do.
It's a little story that runs in the head of many of our new clients when they're starting up and I'm here to tell you It's holding you back...
Now this isn't to say that exercise and more importantly blocking out time to prioritize & take care of yourself won't lead to you feeling better and more confident
BUT, here's when it goes to far
All is good, until people get too locked in on some number or a weight loss goal.
This creates a failure pressure bubble
See it's no longer just feeling better in your clothes or a more strength that's on the line...it's your happiness (and that's really scary to have on the line)
So while it may give you the temporary willpower to choose a healthier meal one day, in the long run, I've always seen it
2 Reasons:
1. On the way to your fitness goal (or the point of you being happier) you inevitably will have setbacks. However, I've seen two many times where people are in this pressure bubble and that setback kills their whole journey. They feel more shame, more guilt, more fear...and it makes recovering back REALLY hard.
2. If you do get to that arbitrary goal and were waiting for this payoff the whole time, you may get there and then it becomes "well...did I do all of this for nothing"
Lost is the beauty of the journey, the lessons learned from the setbacks, and the excitement to see what comes next. This is the point where I see a lot of people quit
and for MANY of them....this is also where they backslide hard and gain all the weight back.
So what should you do instead?
You focus on the journey, the find beauty in the lessons learned from the hard times and you constantly embrace the happiness that's found in #JustShowUp!
