  • INSIGHT: The Impending Storm

Some storms come with a name. Others come with a date.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches with the threat of damaging winds, flooding, and tornadoes, another storm is on the horizon—November 3, Election Day. One threatens our homes and communities; the other may influence the direction of our nation.

    But here's the greater question:

Are we preparing our hearts as carefully as we are preparing our homes?

In this INSIGHT, we turn to Psalm 46:1–3, Matthew 7:24–27, Mark 4:35–41, and Daniel 2:21 to discover why our confidence must rest in something greater than weather forecasts, political outcomes, or earthly circumstances.

Storms may change our surroundings, governments may change, and uncertainty may increase—but God remains sovereign.

The difference isn't the storm. The difference is the foundation.

Join us for a timely devotion and a special prayer for our nation, our families, our freedoms, and God's protection in the storms ahead.

  • INSIGHT: Mr & Mrs Thing

    MR. AND MRS. THING

Mr. and Mrs. Thing had things.

    Things for the house.
    Things for the garage.
    Things with two wheels.
    Things with four wheels.
Things to carry their things—and eventually, things to store all the other things.

From the outside, it looked like the Things had everything.

    But Jesus warned:

“One’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” — Luke 12:15

In this humorous but challenging INSIGHT, we take a look at how easily possessions can move from being things we own to things that own us.

There is nothing inherently wrong with having possessions. The danger comes when possessions begin possessing our time, our attention, our money, our affection—and eventually our hearts.

Because one day, somebody else will own nearly every physical thing we worked so hard to acquire.

    The real question is:

While we were collecting things, were we investing in the things that last forever?

Sometimes we don't need another thing.

Sometimes we need to remember Who matters most.

  • SIDEBAR: Count The Cost

Jesus said that before a man builds a tower, he should first sit down and count the cost.

Because the truth is, everything costs something.

Every decision. Every relationship. Every habit. Every hour. Every purchase. Every bite of food. Even the things that seem free can eventually send us a bill.

So today, I want us to ask a simple but important question:

Before I do this… have I counted the cost?

  • PRAY THE WORD: Created, Known, and Loved

PRAY THE WORD is a guided time of Scripture, prayer, and faith-filled declaration designed to help us do more than simply read God’s Word—we pray it, believe it, and apply it.

Each episode takes biblical truth and turns it into personal prayer. As you listen, you’ll be invited to pray along, agree with what God has said, and make Scripture-based declarations of faith.

This is not positive thinking or confidence in our own words. Faith comes from hearing the Word of Christ (Romans 10:17), and biblical faith agrees with what God has already spoken.

So slow down. Listen. Pray. Repeat the declarations aloud when prompted. Bring your thoughts, fears, needs, struggles, and circumstances under the authority of God’s Word.

    Don’t just read the Word.

    PRAY THE WORD.

This has been PRAY THE WORD from The Kamber Commentary 28:20.

  • INSIGHT: Revival or Revolution

REVIVAL OR REVOLUTION — WHICH WILL IT BE?

When tragedy or evil shakes a community, what happens in us afterward? Anger may call us to fight with the world’s weapons. Christ calls us to examine our hearts, speak truth, love our enemies, and refuse to let hatred take root.

In this INSIGHT, Ernie reflects on Isaiah 57:1–2, 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, and Philippians 1:21. We consider grief without pretending to understand every loss, God’s sovereignty when events make little sense, and the purpose of another day given to us. Will we answer a shaken world by becoming more like it—or more like Christ?

  • INSIGHT: Bring The Book

Welcome to The Kamber Commentary 28:20 INSIGHT. I’m Ernie Brother.

Let me ask you a simple question: Would you send your child to school without their books?

    Probably not.

So why do so many Christians come to church without their Bible?

Today, I want to challenge us—not to worship a book, not to criticize technology, but to remember the value of actually bringing, opening, handling, marking, and studying the written Word of God.

So grab your Bible—and let’s talk about why it still matters to bring the Book.

  • LOAD: Matthew 23:1-32

Matthew 23:1–32 | When Religion Hides the Heart

Jesus turns to the crowds and His disciples with a warning about the scribes and Pharisees. They knew how to teach the law, but their lives did not match their words. They placed heavy burdens on others, sought honor for themselves, and neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness.

In this L.O.A.D. Bible Study, we walk through Jesus’ first five woes and examine the danger of looking clean on the outside while resisting God on the inside. His words call us to more than pointing out hypocrisy in someone else. They call us to ask whether our own teaching, service, and worship flow from hearts surrendered to Him.

  • INSIGHT: The Crowd Is Not The Measure

THE CROWD IS NOT THE MEASURE | INSIGHT

A full room can be encouraging. But does attendance tell us whether people are becoming disciples?

In this INSIGHT, Ernie-Brother looks at the gap between hearing God’s Word and living it. Jesus commanded His church to make disciples and teach them to observe what He commanded (Matthew 28:19–20). James presses the same point: be doers of the Word, not hearers only (James 1:22).

The question is personal: What truth do I already know that needs to become obedience?

  • INSIGHT: The Appointment You Cannot Cancel

INSIGHT: The Appointment You Cannot Cancel

We can reschedule many things in life, but Hebrews 9:27 tells us there is an appointment none of us can cancel: death. What follows it makes the question of salvation urgent.

In this INSIGHT, Ernie Brother looks at Hebrews 9:27–28 together. Death and judgment are real, but so is the good news that Christ died once to bear sin. The date of our appointment is hidden. The invitation to come to Christ is for today.

When your appointment comes, will you be READY?
