Read is accused of striking O'Keefe with her car after a night of drinking and leaving him in a snowbank in 2022. Her defense has consistently portrayed her as a victim of a cover-up by corrupt law enforcement officials. The rally reflected the ongoing efforts of her supporters to keep the case in the public eye and to call for an investigation into the police's handling of the case.
