Khan Kiely - owner of Khans Books in James’s Street, Kilkenny have announced that they are closing down after 32 years. Khans Books has been open for business since 1994, and began trading in a small premises in James’ Street, Kilkenny, Ireland. The shop moved four times over the coming years until settling back into a larger space in James’ Street, in 2000. What started out as a discount book shop evolved into providing a huge range of books, from best sellers to discounted books – always remaining true to Khans’ ethos – ‘everyone can afford to shop in Khans’ in James’s Street, Kilkenny have announced that they are closing down after 32 years.  Mac Rua is a Carlow based band. Their debut EP INITIATION, was released on September 12, 2025. MACRUA went through some changes. 
Mac Rua members Aaron Smith and Elliott Cass started to write songs together as a duo. Over the months leading up to February they auditioned members and now we have an almost fully Carlow based band. They’ve been working away in the background, rehearsing with the band every Tuesday, and now they’re gaining momentum again. they have an upcoming gig in Smithwicks this Saturday 5th of September, with them is also KCLR alumni Niamh O' Loughlin on backing vocals. 

 Tricia Millar – from Carlow is a member of Autism Heroes.  A variety night for Autism Heroes will be held in the Seven Oaks Carlow on 12th September featuring loads of powerful performances from Carlow talent. It will include comedy, dancing, singing and musicians.

 |Aisling Costello – from Kilkenny was on the show in March. She and her partner Conor Jones from Wexford were about to take over as caretakers of Great Blasket Island. The young couple left their jobs and city life in Cork to become the new caretakers of the Great Blasket Island – despite having never even visited it before. They arrived on the island off Co Kerry on April 1 – and their new home for six months has no hot water, full-time mobile phone coverage or wifi. Their only source of electricity is from a small wind-powered turbine. They will be thee until October and she will give an update of how they are getting on so far

Declan Quigley – communications manager for Rás na mBan - Ireland’s International cycle race for women chats to Brian about the race. 
 Rás na mBan was established in 2006 and is Ireland’s only women’s international stage race. This year, up to 22 teams of five riders representing nations from across the globe take to the start in Kilkenny for an event that has become established as one of the toughest and friendliest autumn stage races on the calendar. The 2026 edition of the race is the 20th under the title of Rás na mBan and the 40th annual international stage race for women in Ireland. In its current format it runs for five days and six stages totalling over 400km of racing action

Fergus Gleeson - aged 80 is a former Commandant in the Irish Army. He grew up mainly in Goresbridge, Co. Kilkenny, has returned to Kilkenny as Noel Hoyne is laid to rest. Noel served in the Congo as a part of a peacekeeping misson with Fergus's brother Kevin between 1960 and 1964.

MP Aryal – from Nepal lives in Carlow. The death toll following devastating floods in Nepal has surpassed 900, as rescue teams worked overnight to reach hundreds of people believed to be stuck inside blocked hydropower project tunnels. The country's disaster authority said 903 were now dead, while the number missing in the aftermath also jumped to 4,247.
