Cllr Damien Donoghue chats to Brian about the water outages in Ferrybank recently. He has raised the issue of low water pressure and calling on a water booster system. Since then Usice Eireann has gone around Ferrybank and detected a lot of leaks which is great but a lot of them has resulted in burst water mains causing major disruptions. T

Almost one in every two crime-related contacts received by Ireland's national victims' support service last year related to assault, harassment or stalking. Haley Halpin form the Crime Victims Helpline (CVH) about how the service has supported 5,902 contacts in 2025, and provided 3,268 referrals to specialist victim support, criminal justice and community services. Founded just over 20 years ago, the helpline provides information and support to victims of crime in Ireland. The number of contacts supported by the charity last year fell by almost 1,000 contacts (967) compared to the previous year. Its latest annual report shows that assault accounted for 24% of recorded crime-related contacts, while harassment and stalking accounted for a further 21%.

Emily Felix is a trainee solicitor from Gowran, Co Kilkenny who has Friedreich’s Ataxia (a rare neurological degenerative disease). She has been left bitterly disappointed by the HSE Drugs Group’s recommendation on Skyclarys. Many in several European countries can avail of the costly treatment for the rare, inherited genetic disorder and there had been hopes that the Irish State would follow suit in funding it for those in need of it here. However, a meeting yesterday concluded that the price of the drug is substantially higher than what’s considered cost-effective. Their decision will now go before senior management at the health body for a final ruling on the 25th of August.

KCLR's Ken McGuire joins The KCLR Daily to discuss the launch of Irish Music Month on KCLR, running on over 20 radio stations across Ireland from 14 September to 11 October, along with the start of the search for A New Local Hero for Kilkenny and Carlow.

The latest round of the JNLR radio listenership figures were published on Thursday August 13th, showing an increase in weekday listenership to KCLR across Kilkenny and Carlow.

Joining Brian to discuss the results were KCLR chief executive John Purcell, KCLR head of programming and operations Ken McGuire and KCLR's head of news, Edwina Grace.

Residents of Rathoe turned out in force last night to discuss their concerns regarding the proposed Rathrush Green Energy Park. Health, traffic congestion, scale, ground water supply, radon exposure and impacts on house prices were just some of the local concerns raised. Our Ethna Quirke was there and spoke to local Councillor’s Ben Ward and Charlie Murphy after the meeting.
The company will hold a public information session in Rathoe Community hall tomorrow from 2 to 9pm where people are encouraged to find out more about the project.
