Laurie has been operating Top Hat since the year 2000. A lot has happened over the last 20 years, but nothing that has challenged Laurie and Top Hat like COVID-19. We talked about how the pandemic has impacted the day-to-day operations of Florence’s premier tea room.

In the June episode, we talk with Chelsea Gurthrie, part of a husband/wife combo who own, operate and live at Red Doe Plantation, the 1836 building and grounds on Francis Marion Hwy. near Francis Marion University. The couple purchased the property in 2017, and -- their three children in tow -- are in the process of renovating the pre-Civil War structure to make it an event venue, community gathering place and home.
