On today's Bible Talks, I want to discuss Mark 1: 14-20 where Jesus calls the fishermen to become his disciples and in that, I want to focus on his statement: "Follow me and I will make you fisherman of men."  How can we think about this and even incorporate it into our lives?  I offer a little suggestion today on this episode.

Okay, this episode could be a little controversial.  I know that...but, I want to share my honest opinion about Coming Out which I also believe, gives a person more empowerment in the entire process.  The belief I share today is the foundation in which my "Selective Outage Method" is layered on.  So, if you disagree with me, that is totally cool and I support your opinion and belief.  But, if you agree with me, then you are my person.

I want to immediately say that I am not trying to gaslight anyone in this conversation.  I am just sharing my truth and my opinion on the healing process.  I know for me, and many of my clients over the years, this was something we had to learn to do.  I am convinced that we must begin letting a lot of the hurtful crap go so we can allow the good healing in.  I hope you will hear the love and compassion behind this episode for it is there.

The Bible talks quite a bit about the Holy Spirit, and in today's text, we see an example of it.  Now, we could get bogged down in the speaking in tongues or evidences of the Holy Spirit within the believer, but I am choosing to go a different direction.  I am suggesting two roles that the Holy Spirit plays in our lives and for which I am very thankful.

Well, this is a million dollar question.  The truth is, there are many reasons.  But in this episode, I will share 4 that I have often heard while doing my work.  I share these for two reasons: 1) to show understanding and support to older folks still in the closet, and 2) to help others to, perhaps, understand their situations just a little bit more. 

I want to see encouragement and grace across generational lines within the community.  That goes for those still in the closet as well. Do you?

On today's Bible Talks, we revisit the familiar text where the angel, Gabriel, visits Mary to share the news of her selection as the mother of Christ.  It's a powerful passage that has been debated and discussed for thousands of years but regardless, I think it can still inspire us today.  In this passage, verse 37 tells us that "nothing is impossible with God."  I submit that is important for us to remember and reflect upon as we pursue what I hope are God-given dreams in life.

Yes, I know.  For many, the holiday season is very difficult.  There is perhaps not group of people who know this any better than those of us within the LGBT community.  Even if you are fortunate to still have family in your life, especially after your "coming out," it can still be hard.  So, with that said, I am simply going to share 4 things I want to remind us all about as we prepare for these family gatherings.
