It was October 15, 2017. Alyssa Milano Tweeted

If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted “me too” as a reply to this tweet. You can argue that’s there has been progress.

    As of this recording, September 20, 2018, 24,099 Retweets. 52, 488 Likes.

There have been men that have been fired, suspended, and arrested
Men like Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K., Marshall Faulk, Kevin Spacey.

But yet, it is also fair to say we have a lot of work too do.
One of the names that was mentioned Louis C.K made a “comeback” stand up routine.
    And this week.
Jian Ghomeshi wrote a an article in the New York Review of Books. Editor Ian Buruma, stood by this decision and is out.
Edmonton Northlands and North American Midway Entertainment-Canada Co. said an incident in July of 2008 13 year old girl who reported being sexually assaulted and left in a ditch in K-Days “ought to have known”.

And of course, Brett Kavanaugh. Palo Alto University, Christine Blasey Ford has accused Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanagh. She has faced questions and tweets and challenges of her claim. Including from President Trump.

Our guest today is someone who has come forward.

    Kristn Raworth.

In January, she came forward with an accusation of sexual harassment against former federal cabinet minister Kent Hehr, prompting others to go public with their own allegations. Ms. Raworth says she was told by a member of the Prime Minister’s Office that her allegation was “deemed 100 per cent founded” by an independent investigation, the results of which were kept secret.

  • Men and Mental Health with Brian Pincott.
My dad came from a generation where no one talked about mental illness or suicide. Men in particular showed no vulnerability or signs of struggle, psychological or physical. To show any emotion was to appear weak, and real men were not weak.
I never saw my father cry. I don't remember any physical signs of love from him, like hugs and kisses.
Reverend Robert Cooke lost his 75-year-old father to suicide last yea

"I have suffered from depression since I was 16 or 17. I have never talked about it. It hasn't served me to not talk about it, as the bouts of depression get deeper and longer."

Those are the words of one of our guests today Brian Pincott.

1 in 10 Canadian men will experience major depression in the course of their lives
3 out of every 4 suicides are men.

    The Canadian Mental Health Association says this;

It’s being called a silent crisis, a sleeper issue. But there are signs that this sleeper is at last awakening. Around the world studies, surveys, web networks, journals and newspaper articles are shedding light on a shadowy subject: men’s mental health.

If you heard our conversation around kids and mental health, Alycia Perreault suggested we need to have a conversation around men. Tonight on Agree or Disagree:The Podcast we talk about Men and Mental Health

    .

Former Calgary City Councillor Brian Pincott. was first elected in 2007 in his Ward 11 seat until he decided to not seek reelection in 2017. He has opened up about his journey.

Today he shares his perspective and his journey.

    Topics we cover;

-Why did he come forward? And his reaction to the response.
    -Being a politician.
    -Toxic Masculinity.
-The power of empathy and kindness.

  • The State of Public Schools and Sex Ed in Canada.
Yesterday was Back to School. Although technically niot, it is The end of Summer and considered the start of Fall. New year. New ideas. And Back to school.

Looking back on the summer, there were many controversies. Including one in Ontario. Where the new Ontario Government announced they would take the sex curriculum back to…..

A search engine named Google was founded.

Bill Clinton denies he had "sexual relations" with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Crimp hairs and Jelly Shoes were the fashion.

The 4 biggest movies were Armaggedon, Saving Private Ryan, Godzilla, and There’s Something About Mary.

Yes the Canadian Hit One Week from the Barenaked Ladies came out.

Now just like none of these are relevant, many are concerned about taking a sex curriculum back to 1998 seems short sighted. Including some current kids now. Here are some kids the Globe and Mail talked too.

    (CUE)

Of course, Ontario Teachers have also expressed their concern. The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario is taking the Ford Government to court saying it is infringing on the rights of teachers and students.

ETFO President Sam Hammond. “Yes it seems homophobic in a way, yes it’s trying to eliminate key aspects of the society we live in: gender identities, trans gender individuals, same sex marriage.

But what about the state of sex ed. Is there a concern only in Ontario, or is there work to do across the Country?

To discuss that we have Barb Silva

  • Derek Fildebrandt: In His Own Words.
“But we know that people are complicated and have a mixture of flaws and talents and sins. So why do we pretend that we don’t?”
― Jon Ronson, So You've Been Publicly Shamed

Let’s learn more about that concept with our guest Derek Fildebrandt on Agree or Disagree:

Alberta continues to be a fascinating place for politics. Not a day goes by without some sort of controversy. And you cab see that on social media.

My guest today has been a part of that.

When I say the name Derek Fildebrandt, you will get a reaction. Some may have a negative reaction and some may not. He was the centre of a few social media controversies including with Naheed Nanshi, and Mike Morrison.

But he also had some personal ones.

As a matter of fact, it was a year ago this month

On August 9, 2017, various news outlets revealed that Fildebrandt was routinely renting out his taxpayer-funded Edmonton apartment on Airbnb.[49
On August 14, 2017 , it was revealed that Fildebrandt had been charging meals to his MLA expense account while simultaneously claiming his MLA per-diem for meals.
On August 15, 2017, Fildebrandt was charged under the provincial traffic act with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to notify the owner of the damaged vehicle, for an incident alleged to have occurred in June, 2016.

Also In August 2017, Fildebrandt left the United Conservative Party caucus to sit as an independent

In December 2017, he was charged with illegally killing a deer,

2018 may have sorted rough, but we also saw a transition

In February 2018, United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney announced that Fildebandt was removed from the UCP Caucus.

On July 20, 2018, Derek Fildebrant helped found and was appointed Interim Leader of the Freedom Conservative Party of Alberta. And last night, they had their first Calgary FCP Pub night.
