When you read the Beatitudes, do you see a checklist of moral achievements you need to unlock, or a mirror reflecting your deep need for a Savior?
In today’s message, with the help of Proverbs 3:5-7, Matthew 5:3, and Psalm 146:5, we challenge the dangerous trap of legalism and explore the beautiful reality of heart obedience.
📜
"The Beatitudes are not a list of moral achievements; rather, they are a revelation of our need for Christ."
⚖️ Legalism vs. Heart Obedience
Religion tells us to roll up our sleeves and perform. It convinces us that we can earn our way into God’s favor through rigid, external obedience. But Jesus turns this entirely upside down in Matthew 5. The Kingdom of God doesn't open its doors to the self-sufficient; it begins with those who are spiritually bankrupt.
