Continuing our study on how to read the Bible, Marcuss is putting 2 Cor. 3:18 back in context.  We've all heard it many times and honestly, it has most likely been misinterpreted.  Actually it's just misused.  Marcuss will explain the explanation of this from many who prescribe to more than one interpretation.  This is completely ignoring the principles of interpretation outright.  So, what was Paul speaking of when those in the first century were being changed from glory to glory?  What does that mean for us today?

Think Logically for a moment.  Do two or more people have to be together for Jesus to be within their midst?  He's with us always isn't He?  So why do most of us use Matthew 18:20 in agreement for prayer and other things?  We are learning how to read the Bible and this is another text often used out of context.  Context matters.  This is about correction and discipline when you simply read the text with the surrounding context.  Remember, a text without a context is just a con.

Marcuss has spent hours teaching on Eschatology, especially Preterism.  And while he has explained that it is not an essential doctrine it still matters because theology matters.  Whether one likes it or not we all engage in theology.  So, Preterism has become a broad umbrella term under which many of men's doctrines have collected.  We must be careful in explaining our eschatological view and also know that just because someone shares in it doesn't mean they have a solid theological understanding of "Proper Theology."  That being said, Marcuss discusses some things that believe in under this umbrella such as Universalism, Unitarianism, and Baptismal Regeneration.

This may not be the most theological episode but it may be helpful nonetheless.  With all the crazy stuff happening with Covid-19, Marcuss shares a clip from Gov. Cuomo stating that "the illness is death."  Well, we know the illness is not death.  If that were true the death rate would be 100%.  He further asks "what could be worse than death?"  Really?  Marcuss can think of a few things.  This is self-preservation at it's finest.  The guy is just committing moral idiocy.  Please, don't be a moral idiot as well.

Did you know that most of our English Bibles contain what is known as "the long ending" to Mark's Gospel?  Did you know there were other endings?  How do we determine if it is authentic or not?  Well, in interpretation you may end up doing some textual criticism as well.  Marcuss is no pro at this but does know how to look at internal evidence.  We can see what matches by letting scripture interpret scripture.  Also, by reading one's whole account, you get to know them as a writer.  So do verses 9-20 sound like Mark?  If so, how?  If not, how so?  Most are in agreement but what is actually important here is that it doesn't call into question God's word as a whole or change any doctrinal teachings we hold on to.  Find out why.

Like, really, please, stop.  This is another "driving theology" episode where Marcuss goes on one of his little rants. Have you ever noticed that a lot of believers use a lot of Old Testament events and actions in relation to today?  Think about it.  Do you or someone else walk around something seven times and then make a declaration?  Why?  Then there are those who have to find "prophetic meaning" to everything that happens.  Or maybe its a number and the biblical use of that number and the symbol or significance in relation to us now.  We read omens and have become superstitious believers.

Every 10 to 20 years things happen that have the end time pundits of our day begin to shout, "the end is near!"  But is that really the case?  It's been the case many times for the last 120 years and yet the end never came.  Many believe that scripture proclaims that an increase and intensity of things such as earthquakes and pestilence will occur giving us the signs of the times but is this true?  Jesus only mentioned these things once and were not signs but the beginning of birth pains.  So what is the truth? Should we look at these things today in relation to the end or simply take them for what they are?
