Here are some more thoughts on the last sermon posted.  Marcuss explains how critical it is for the believer to understand the interpretation of scripture.  When we realize our filters and presuppositions we can remove them.  When we understand time statements and audience relevance more we can see them.  When comparing some of the things we believe and say to scripture we can find inconsistencies.  This is flawed theology and should be fixed.

Here's another "driving theology" episode! This one is for Pastors but everyone will learn.  It's often said that Mondays are the worst day for Pastors and this is the day they want to walk away from ministry.  Well, why?  Was the response weak, the crowd not into it, the worship not spontaneous enough?  Then maybe Mondays are bad because you're heart as a Pastor is in the wrong place.  Why do we preach?  For amen's and excitement from other people or to glorify God?  When you simply set out to teach what the text is saying there's not much of a burden to be had and not only will the rest of Sunday be good but you'll see that Mondays are good too.

Marcuss expands more on the devil being dead in this sermon.  To be sure, defeated and destroy are two different things. To see that the devil was defeated at the cross and then destroyed soon after at the end of the age (70 AD) makes contextual biblical sense. But to see the devil defeated but still have rule and reign for 2000 years makes no sense at all.  John and Paul make several statements about the destruction of the devil and also the abolishment of death!  If we believe in the inspiration of scripture then we should be believing in the things it states.

This is another "driving theology" recording.  This time Marcuss shares some thought on how to share the eschatological view of Preterism.  Everyone is going to have their way of sharing but let's face it, this isn't always the best topic to just dump on someone if they have no clue about existing in the first place.  There are approaches that can lend to great conversations that end up edifying everyone.  Should you ask them some questions?  Point out certain texts?  Yeh, probably so and while you're at it tell them things about audience relevance and time statements.  Take it slow with some people.  Go faster with others.  Even if at the end they haven't changed their view, you've taught them about interpretation and that another view exists without a fight and being called a heretic.  That in itself is worth it.

Marcuss often has a lot of driving time on workdays and records thoughts on his phone as many other people do.  So he has decided to share some of them with you.  Sure, the audio isn't as great and sometimes there is "road noise" but you'll be fine.  To be honest, this one may not even make a lot of sense, its a ramble, its a rant but the point is in there somewhere.  Eschatology matters even when some think yours is heretical.  You have to deal with it somehow because it's pretty much there wherever you read scripture!

In this parable, we will see, the vineyard is Israel the owner is God, the tenant farmers are the Jewish leaders, the slaves are the prophets that are throughout Israel's history that the leadership has always rejected, and the only son is Jesus.  Now this parable gives us the history and the future (70 AD) of the nation of Israel from a first-century perspective. Remember, that is pretty much always our goal. A first-century perspective and understanding. Audience relevance means a lot. From this, we can look back and see the accuracy of the bible and that history played out just as this parable predicted.

Jesus speaks of "the least of these" in Matthew 25 and it's often assumed and taught that they are the homeless, the downtrodden, the orphans, and widows.  Loving and caring for them is to do so unto Him.  Those who do not are goats and cast into the fire.  These messages can be burdensome and when you see the context of "the least of these" you'll see that they are wrong as well.  Scripture is filled with calls for compassion and caring for those in need, this is true however they are not "the least of these" mentioned by Christ in Matthew 25 about the separation of sheep and goats dealing with judgment.  Let's do our best to keep the bible in its context.

We are to be salt and light.  Call it evangelism, outreach, or influence, it all boils down to the same thing. Our faith is to have an impact on the world in which we live. We, as believers, are called to influence our society, culture, and world.  But it's pretty hard to be effective if you're not at a place where the salt makes contact and where the light can be seen.

Christmas, Easter, and every day there should be a moment to realize the Revelation of Jesus Christ.  When Christ was born it was more than just a mere baby in a manger that would later be depicted in front yards and on Christmas cards.  This was the appointed time for the world's Savior to come crashing in on Imperial Rome, a stone not cut by human hands.  Much like the mustard seed and leaven, this stone would grow into a mountain just as Daniel interpreted the King's dream.  That mountain is a place where John was placed in Revelation 22 to see the wife of the Lamb, the Church, the heavenly Jerusalem in which was once above and free as Paul wrote of but now has come down into this world to proclaim a message.  That message is that God is indeed with us and speaking through us of the tree and river of life!  Come, all who are thirsty and thirst no more.  The stone is a mountain and the everlasting Kingdom has no end.

Jesus restarted the human race as a new Adam. That’s why the Bible calls Jesus the “Second Adam”. And that’s why our Savior had to come through a virgin birth. So that He could be a human being yet remain free from the original sin nature we all inherited. Like Adam, Jesus did not have an earthly father.  This is Immanuel which means God with us, not like us.
