In this next part of the conversation with Paul, we get to hear about how learning the basic principals of interpretation changed everything.  It wasn't just a change in eschatology that Paul experienced but everything else about his theology.  From the gifts of the Spirit to how much of popular Christianity ignores the basic context of a scripture.  In all of this, the majority of his biblical view had been dismantled.  He even began to see the doctrine of the Trinity for the first time in his life.  This was a life-changing event that impacted him for the better and it was all because he learned how to interpret the Bible.

Well, this has been a long time coming!  Marcuss welcomes his very first guest ever to the podcast, Paul.  As you'll hear, Paul was a regular listener to the show and it didn't take long for him to consider Marcuss crazy.  Honestly, he thought the things Marcuss was saying were heretical.  So Paul set out to strengthen his study and future eschatology view to prove preterism wrong.  The thing is, though, he had also learned about the proper interpretation of the Bible and it wouldn't be long until he started to see things in context.  The more context, the more clarity.  The more clarity, the more he realized that preterism was at least something to be considered.  It turns out that Paul would end up leaving the future eschatological view behind and come over to a more hopeful view.  The results radically changing most of what he believed.

In this sermon, Marcuss goes through the genealogy of Jesus from Matthew's Gospel.  Matthew wrote his account to a Jewish audience and the birth account of Christ is from Joeseph's perspective.  While many of us may skip genealogy accounts in scripture and give no attention to them, the Jews most certainly would have cared and been concerned with this.  Matthew had a point to make and there is something to be learned so why not learn from it?

Futurists say the resurrection of believers will happen sometime in the future, but Marcuss says that it happened in the past and continues today. So we need to ask what does the Bible say? So we are going to look at what Daniel says about the timing and the time of the Resurrection.

So in the first half of this episode, Marcuss talks a little about Greek and Hebrew.  Basically what not to do with the original words.  Let's do out best not to commit the root fallacy that will then result in the exegetical fallacy.  This all seg ways into being a theologian.  Yes, we know, it's all about relationship and not religion.  Here's the thing though, that relationship is theology!  It doesn't matter if you don't like the word, the instant you discuss God, the bible, worship or anything in that sphere, you are committing theology!  Yes, you!  So, know your doctrines, study your creator's word.  Take time to ponder and ask questions.  This deepens your relationship and walk with God.  To sum it all up, you are a theologian, so why not be a good one?

Romans 8:1 reads loud and clear.  No if's, and's or buts!  If you are trusting to any degree in your own morality or religious attainments, or if you believe God will somehow recognize any of your good works as merit toward your salvation, you need to seriously consider if you are truly a Christian.  There is no condemnation to us who are in Christ. God has made us righteous, He has made us accepted in the Beloved. We will never suffer His wrath, we will never face His punishment because Jesus Christ has taken care of all of that on our behalf. That is what GRACE is all about.

What did the writer of Hebrews really mean when he wrote to not forsake the gathering?  Is it really about missing, skipping, or not going to church?  What about the salvation prooftext of confessing with one's mouth?  Is that what Paul was really getting at when he wrote Romans to believers in the Roman Empire in the first century?  What does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth?  And is getting tattoos or being overweight actually defacing or abusing the temple of God?  To try to rip a verse out of context cheapens Scripture and insults the intelligence of its readers.  A text without a context is just a con.

2 Corinthians 5:16-21

Five times in those brief verses some form of the word “reconciliation” is used and that defines the theme of these verses. It's all about the ministry of reconciliation. God has restored favor unto man enabling him to come to Him through Christ by faith alone. No priest, no sacrifice, no temple or a certain time of year for a feast or festival. The world is reconciled, favor has been restored to come to God through Christ.  And this is the ministry we have had placed inside of us!

Jumping back into Hebrews 9 we come to verse 11 starting with "But Christ".  Everything mentioned before in this chapter, everything consisting of the Mosaic Economy comes to an end with "But Christ"!  The point of this passage is to show the superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ to the Old Covenant system. The writer, basically, says, "Why would you want to go back to an inferior type when you have the reality?"  So Christ's work is contrasted with that of the Old Covenant and we see the superiority of Jesus Christ and his work. Christ, as high priest, has entered the true tabernacle, which is heaven.  Everything is completed once for all!

Last week there was a question about being judged by our works.  It certainly is a topic worthy of discussion.  Obviously, the Gospel is about what Jesus has done.  There is not one thing we can do on our own to guarantee any protection or validity for eternal life.  We are created for good works through Christ, indeed.  However, thinking we are only to do works based on a reward system because of some moral scale God has to weigh our eternity is, in itself, nonsense!  The Father gives salvation to all who do nothing more than to believe in His Son. We either believe the witness God has given concerning His Son that salvation is only through Him, or we are still trying to be saved by and through our own works of righteousness.
