Caitlin Clark brings unprecedented attention to women's basketball, and somehow she becomes the center of a culture war over race, privilege, and identity. Then her teammate Sophie Cunningham says the obvious thing out loud, and two former male NBA players, Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White, announce they're entering the 2027 draft as transgender women, so the league has to answer the question everybody's been dancing around. Here's my take: sometimes the most merciful thing you can do with a false idea is let it play itself out to its logical conclusion. You can rename reality and rewrite the rulebook, but when the whistle blows, reality gets the final possession, because truth belongs to God. So pull up a chair, grab your popcorn, and let's watch what happens next.

And they do, but there is a far bigger conversation hidden behind that promise.

What is respect, really? Something we deserve, something we can demand, or something we have to earn? James brought this one to the table, and it became one of my favorite talks we have had in a while.

The old Hebrew unlocked it for me. Honor is something we are called to give every person because they bear God's image. Respect, the kind that means admiration for character, is earned. Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be the biggest Spider-Man movie in years, and it gave me a lot more than a fun night at the theater. Behind all the action (and a little personal pride, since my cousin Brett Pollock served as director of photography), I found three lessons hiding under the mask: you can't heal by living a double life, real strength comes from fixing your eyes on Christ's victory instead of your old failures, and the reformers were right that a believer is, at the very same time, righteous and still a sinner.
