The winding down of 1993. Musically great. Career-wise, terrible. Personal-life-wise, blech! Yet it's often the miserable times we sometimes look back on with nostalgia. I blame the excellent music.
The year was winding down, it was colder than Hell and now I was getting antsy to leave Bloomington-Normal, IL for warmer pastures. One thing pulling me through was a brochure from University Towers which showed Austin's rather modest skyline.
This side is special to me because it put the gears in motion toward me leaving Central Illinois. After Helen's great birthday-party weekend, I was now scheming to return to Milwaukee.
The next 10 tapes rolled out with the artwork being changed courtesy of my employer's clip art files. The rules were also modified for female vocals (1 in 4 instead of 1 in 3) due to a dearth on them.
Here's the other side, I know one act wasn't "Alternative" but it involved Edgar Allen Poe, a key founder to the Horror genre!
I decided to take on another holiday-themed mix since my acts in my genre tended to get involved with Halloween and not all are Goth acts.
This side is very special due to coincidence. I played it while driving to Chicago for the big Silder wedding and the mix ended with its final song "With a Little Luck," right as I parked my car to meet up with my group that Friday. To me, it was an omen of how memorable and awesome this weekend would be.
