  • Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
We take a break from Mike White May with the second in a series of bonus episodes leading up to the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga with a look at the second film in the original trilogy Mad Max 2: Road Warrior. Midnight Viewing's Father Malone joins the episode to talk Lord Humungus, Bruce Spence, and Miller's post-apocalyptic world.

Directed also by George Miller and starring Gibson once again, the film finds Max wandering the now post-apocalyptic wasteland of Australia looking to keep his V-8 Pursuit Special tanked up and full of fuel. Along with his trusty Australian Sheperd, he must help a civilization located in an oil refinery defend themselves from the menacing Lord Humungus.

  • Le Jouet / The Toy
We continue Mike White May, this year all about Francis Veber films and their remakes, with a look at a duo of film with ostensbily the same setup: Le Jouet and The Toy. The Projection Booth's Mike White and Wake Up Heavy's Mark Begley join the episode to talk Richard Pryor, which film actually works, and whether the newest remake is worth checking out.

The two films follow a unemployed journalist who, in a strange turn of events, is purchased by a a millionaire's child to become the titular toy. It's a bizarre setup that, at least in the original's case, not only works but manages to include on scathing social commenary. Each film has its own tone and style however only of one of them is worth checking out in 2024.

  • Mad Max
We take a break from Mike White May with the first in a series of bonus episodes leading up to the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga with a look at the original 1979 Mad Max. Midnight Viewing's Father Malone joins the episode to talk Mel Gibson, George Miller, and what to expect from the franchise as a whole.

Directed by George Miller and starring the aforementioned Gibson, the film follows the titular Max as he attempts to survive in a slightly futuristic wasteland full of Ozzie motorcycle gangs and protect his family from harm. It's a hell of an opening to the popular franchise and one that sets the stage perfectly for things to come.

  • Musafir
Sanjay Gupta's Musafir is a Bollywood crime thriller with a Hollywood heart, and not in a subtle way: Anil Kapoor plays a small-time crook who agrees to one last delivery in Goa, with Sameera Reddy as the femme fatale and Sanjay Dutt as a gangster of increasingly unhinged proportions. It's Hindi cinema by way of Oliver Stone's U Turn, with all the style that implies.

  • Khal Nayak
Subhash Ghai's Khal Nayak ("The Villain") was one of the biggest Hindi films of 1993, and it arrived surrounded by controversy. Sanjay Dutt plays Ballu, an escaped terrorist, opposite Jackie Shroff's police officer and Madhuri Dixit as the officer who goes undercover to catch him. It's also home to "Choli Ke Peeche," one of the most famous — and most debated — songs in Bollywood history.
