Hour 3 -- more bad news for FBI: an agent resigns amid accusations that he thwarted Hunter Biden laptop investigation, former Bush White House advisor (who knows a little bit about classified documents) examines the Trump Mar-A-Lago search/raid by the FBI, why is Trump hiring what appear to be 3rd rate lawyers amid document dispute/FBI search, schools and teachers are complaining that classrooms don't have air conditioning and KVI's Producer Phil has the remedy for the situation, GUEST: author of the dictionary of curse words "Cursing With Style", Erika Weinert, tells KVI her book idea started with an incident involving a flat tire on her car, Carlson says the book would resonate with long time KOMO friend and colleague, the late Ken Schram; GUEST: Dean V. Butler, attorney at law, explains the 1972 legal ruling that might prevent Gov. Jay Inslee from automatically adopting California's 2035 ban on gas powered new car sales without a vote of the Legislature.

The Pierce County Sheriff's department warns the public about "rainbow" fentanyl as a deceptive and dangerously alluring to children, some forms of the brightly colored fentanyl tabs look similar to popular types of candy like Sweet Tarts and Skittles, the colored fentanyl could easily be enticing to children. The "rainbow" fentanyl report compels KVI's John Carlson to share a powerful and candid obituary of a 26 yr old Puget Sound man's over-dose death from fentanyl as posted by his grieving family, Carlson commends the family from sharing such a painful tragedy as a potential warning to remind others about the fatal consequences of fentanyl.

Seattle's Chinatown International-District residents and business owners are "coalescing" in opposition to a proposed 500 bed homeless shelter and services complex that has been quietly unveiled by King County officials including the Regional Homeless Authority and Executive Dow Constantine, according to news reporter, Jonathan Choe. KVI's John Carlson interviews Choe about what he's discovered regarding the proposed homeless facility that would be located near 6th Avenue South and Airport Way in the SoDo neighborhood, just south of the CID. Choe notes that this complex was "quietly announced in March" but government officials have avoided mentioning it to avoid drawing attention to it. The large proposed homeless complex has neighbors and business owners nearby "going to war", according to Choe, to stop its completion. Back in 2017 Choe cites a public trust incident in CID's Little Saigon for a safe injection site and Carlson points out the incongruity of the proposed homeless complex with both a "sobering center" and "safe injection site" at the same complex. Choe adds, the complex gives "drug dealers a new location to prey on these lost souls."

A conservative school teacher in Kent says she supports the strike and tells KVI why. First reason is a restriction on outside pay the Kent district wants to cut from the next contract, another is a reduction in planning time from 50 minutes to 30 minutes. She says special needs teachers are understaffed and the social-emotional problems of the students need more attention. The teacher says teachers were never asked about supporting lock downs and that it was union leadership that decided on lock downs unilaterally. KVI's John Carlson addresses the teacher lament that they buy so many school supplies annually for students.

Kent School Board member, Joe Bento, resides in the district but is a union teacher in Renton. Bento is a trainer for the Washington Education Association which is a teacher's union and a delegate to the MLK County Labor Board per his school board election biography. Given his labor union related work, KVI's John Carlson wants to know if Benton has a conflict of interest as a school board member voting 'no' on a legal proposal that would take the striking Kent teachers to court to obtain an injunction under state law to start the school year instead of continuing the 4 day old strike.

Hour 3 -- the head scratching ironies of Kent and Seattle school teachers demanding more pay and classroom support after the way the unions behaved during the COVID lock downs, if Oregon goes along with California and only sells EVs in 2035 will Oregonians be allowed to plug in their own chargers without a charging station attendant?, compare WA's governor to VA's new Republican governor when it comes to mandating EV sales, KVI callers--including one who is a consultant to electric utilities--share their concerns about upping the electrical grid capacity in 12 short years.

The website Crosscut.com reports that at least one striking Kent (WA) school teacher wants air conditioning in the class room. Another Kent school counselor wants someone to pay her gasoline bill to drive to work. KVI's John Carlson explores some of the teacher justifications for why they're striking and why families with children can't get their kids into the classroom. In addition, a Kent teacher's union spokesman says teachers are striking for more student mental health support after the COVID shutdowns that the teachers ironically advocated and supported. A recently retired teacher in King County calls the show to share her experience both in the union and the classroom.
