This week is a spotlight our new favorite new music. Highlights include the solo debuts from two Mexican alternative icons (Plastilina Mosh's Jonaz and Jumbo's Clemente Castillo), plus cowboy mambo from The Mavericks, and the return of acclaimed singer-songwriter Jorge Drexler.

It was 30 years ago today...This week we take the Latin Alternative time machine back to 1987, a year when 'Rock en Español" bands like Soda Stereo and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs burst out of Argentina conquered the Americas. Los Lobos went mainstream with their cover of "La Bamba" and tropical artists like Tito Puento and Joe Arroyo continued to make vital music.

So much great new música, so little time. We sort through the best new releases from artists including Bomba Estereo, Migrant Motel, The Mavericks, Sara Valenzuela and Cilantro Boombox.

We're joined by Chicano Batman, the buzz-heavy and soulful Latin rockers from LA, for a special interview highlighting their recently-released album 'Freedom Is Free.' We also spotlight new music from AJ Davila, Gaby Moreno, No Te Va Gustar and Los Amigos Invisibles.
