Shayla Racquel, filmmaker and award-winning director is the creator of Quarter Century, a narrative series following a group of post-grads who are trying to figure out what it means to be “grown”; a short film titled Life’s Checklist that was an official selection at six film festivals and has won three awards, including Best Student Short Film; and her thesis capstone Riverment, a short film that discusses intergenerational trauma while comparing and contrasting movements and has won 11 awards (so far)!
Shayla Racquel bleeds Orange & Green, holding a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the illustrious Florida A&M University (FAMU). She received her Masters of Fine Arts in Film & Electronic Media from American University.
