"Do you want to triple you income. Join Toastmasters."  -- said JJ Hanley, Division E Director at our Annual Toastmasters Awards Night for our club. It was a statement as part of his speech to congratulate the members of our Club, who he had presided over as our Area Director for the year.

    It was also very prophetic!

Little did the our club members or JJ Hanley know, but Eugene our sitting club President, had just been promoted to Director of Enterprise Collaboration and had indeed, with the increase in pay, tripled his income.  From the time he started at the company to now, his income had tripled.

Eugene as you hear in this episode attributes a lot of his success to Toastmasters and to setting goals.

Eugene Chen is a co-worker, fellow Toastmaster and friend of mine. Eugene and I started working for the same company at about the same time.  We worked together on several projects together, and I was always impressed with him and his charisma, drive, determination and his servant spirit.

We joined Toastmasters at the same time as Charter Members when our company started the club. We both started working through the workbooks and progressing through the projects.

Eugene moved into a new role as Internal Community Manager part of our companies new Enterprise Collaboration project. In this role, Eugene thrived and grew.

You've probably heard of Harvey Mackay. Harvey Mackay is the author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller  -
Swim with the Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive: Outsell, Outmanage, Outmotivate, and Outnegotiate Your Competition among other titles.
Today's quote of the day is from Harvey Mackay

I believe that visualization is one of the most powerful means of achieving personal goals.   -- Harvey Mackay

Harvey Mackay know about success and about achieving goals. As his quote states, he is a firm believer in using visualization. I, like Harvey, believe it is the most powerful means of achieving personal goals.

When I put "Visualize It" as one of the the 9 Steps To Successful Goal Achievement, my ebook, it is because it is essential to successful goal achievement. The Goal Getting, Don't Just Set'em, Get'em program teaches visualization techniques to help you set into your subconscious mind, the exact thing you are trying to achieve when you set your goals.

Do you use mediation or other visualization techniques? The subconscious mind is a powerful tool that we have for our use. Sometimes it can be negatively programmed with limiting beliefs and we have to change those to positive goal-oriented, success-conscious beliefs.

    Visualization helps us do that.

Thinking about the process of achieving the goals we have set and imaging us doing them perfectly, executing them in our mind with unrelenting precision, will help us set the mind to believing that we can do it that way and that we can achieve the goals.

Would you like to learn some visualization techniques and meditations? I have done many visualizations myself, and most successful sports figures use these type of techniques to see themselves doing and winning the events the enter.

    You can, too.

As we continue this series on Visualization, I will work on creating a Visualization Audio program that you will be able to download and use to start working on visualizing your goals. If you have a specific type of goal you are working on and would like to have the audio tailored to that specific type of goal, (for example, "Weight Loss", "Exercising", "Career Advancement"), let me know in the Comments Section.

Once I get the visualization audio files completed and ready for download, I will post on the Podcast Upgrades page and you can enter your email and we will sent it to you.

Visualization is daydreaming with a purpose.  -- Bo Bennett
Today's quote if from Bo Bennett, an Author, Motivational Speaker, Serial Entrepreneur and Psychologist.

Bo has done great things with his life and has excelled in all of them. I encourage you to check him out at his website

    http://www.archieboy.com/index.php/bo-bennett

Many people Dream. Dreaming is good. When we talk of Dreaming we are often talking about the process of imagining ourselves doing something or accomplishing something. We dream about being financially free, or a new car or a vacation.  Dreaming is good. It gets our mind thinking about the goals we want to accomplish.

However, often our dreams are really just daydreams. These are dreams without a purpose. Idle thoughts.  They don't really serve much purpose other than to distract us from our work, or something we don't usually want to do.

Visualization, on the other hand, is what Bo Bennett says in today's quote.

Visualization is a key element in the Goal Getting, Don't Just Set'em, Get'em program. Our subconscious mind is visual for most people. It can make the images we need to see ourselves doing what we want to do.
Visualization exercises allow us to create a picture of the thing we want to do or accomplish. We can control the nature of and the outcome of the vision.
When you visualize something, you want to make sure that you see yourself doing it, achieving it, being it, winning it, etc., and performing it perfectly.
Do you think about what you want to do before you do it? Are you thinking good thoughts about the things you think about?
Visualize with a purpose. Imagine and see yourself doing it perfectly, completely and achieving the goal you are working on. Daydream with a purpose. That purpose should be positive and should be to Get The Goal You Set.

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened. ~Dr. Seuss
This quote was shared by Rochelle Jhonson on Twitter. She has shared several great quotes. Just want to give her a hat tip for it.

Wow, a very simple quote, but so meaningful in many ways. It could relate to many things. Relationships, jobs, careers, events, lives, business, failures. Anything.

When something ends, you shouldn't cry, or think of the ending as bad or even what happened as bad or sad. Yes, it may be sad for a moment, especially if we lost someone or something we truly loved.

But what Dr. Seuss says here, to me, is that we shouldn't cry, but instead smile. Remember the experience and the fact that it happened. Whether it was a good or bad experience, we can take something away from that experience.

The joy we shared, the love we felt, the excitement we held in our hearts or minds for the time we had it. A lesson learned, knowing that we won't do the same thing again. A knowledge or skill acquired that will propel us to greater good.

It reminds me of the philosophy and a saying we say in my martial art that I study:
    Shiken haramitsu daikoumyo
The translation shared with me by the Grandmaster and my Sensei was:
"In every experience in life, there is the opportunity to gain total enlightenment. It is up to us to determine if that experience is positive or negative."
Dr. Seuss or Sensei Seuss's quote today is along the same philosophy.

Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.  Choose happiness over sadness. Smiling over Crying.

I learned to always take on things I'd never done before. Growth and comfort do not coexist."
-- Virgina Rometty (CEO of IBM)
Virginia "Ginnie" Rometty is the current Chairman, President and CEO of IBM. She rose through the ranks to get to be the first woman CEO of the company. A really dynamic person, she has taken her position as one of the most influential women in America by having the right attitude.

Ginnie takes on things outside of her comfort zone. While most people do not like to leave their comfort zone, Ginnie always takes on things she has never done before. She knows that Growth and comfort do not coexist. You can have comfort and growth.

One of my best friends, Bud Malmstrom, who also happens to be my martial arts teacher, has what we affectionately call "Budisms". One of Bud's most famous is "Without Change There Is No Growth".  This agrees with Ginnie's thoughts in her quote. And really, you cannot have both comfort and growth. They do not coexist.

Ginnie and most executives and entrepreneurs have not gotten to where they are by only taking on things in their comfort zone.  They reach out of the zone as often as they can.

Grow by reaching out of your comfort zone. Do what other won't!  Do what you've never done! Be what you've never been before.
