In this session, he takes questions from a live audience.

Kenny graciously spoke at a two-day event sponsored by the Excellence in Leadership Institute. For more about ELI, click here:

  • LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION  [PART I] [EPISODE 146]

In this short episode, I am releasing the first part of a great conversation with Dr. Kenny Embry. Kenny is a podcaster and a Professor of Communication at St. Leo University.

Kenny graciously spoke at a two-day event sponsored by the Excellence in Leadership Institute. For more about ELI, click here:

    https://excellenceinleadershipinstitute.com

In this short episode, Kenny discusses communication and leadership.  I asked Kenny why everyone thinks that they can communicate, but communication issues plague organizations. What is going on?

Kenny explained the way we should think about communication. If you get this, it changes EVERYTHING about how you approach the subject of communication. I PROMISE. HIS ANSWER IS A GAME-CHANGER.

If you enjoyed this, listen to longer segments—Part II and Part III (each are roughly a half hour) follow in episode 147 and 148. I intentionally keep these episodes to a manageable size for listeners’ convenience.

In this episode, I mentioned the Excellence in Leadership Institute. For upcoming free events check out: https://www.getpromotedlive.info/

  • HOW TO LEAD WELL AT HOME [EPISODE 145]

In this episode, I again interview Jeff Carlucci. Jeff is my former colleague at StoneBridge School where I taught from 1999-2004. Jeff has been there for 24 years and he is the former Headmaster of the school.

In this episode, we are going to talk about what we talked about a lot when I worked there—leading at home. During this period of my life, I was single, met my soon-to-be-wife, and I was married. Jeff was very much a mentor to me and we discussed these things while we graded papers or worked out. I hope you can benefit from the discussion.

  • 20 HABITS YOU MUST STOP [EPISODE 144]

In this episode, I will discuss 20 habits you must stop or it will stop you. The list comes from a fantastic book by Marshall Goldsmith (What Got You Here Won’t Get You There).

These errors will derail your career if you let it. Don’t let it. Learn about it now and fix it before it is too late.

  • THE LEADERSHIP SECRETS OF RUSH LIMBAUGH [EPISODE 143]

Rush Limbaugh passed away a few days ago. In this episode, I use his words to explain how he rose to prominence and become the ultra-successful conservative standard bearer.

Limbaugh was well-known for being a conservative firebrand, but after listening to this episode you will understand why he was successful (and it had less to do with politics than the way that he thought about himself and his audience).

  • 7 WAYS TO GET YOURSELF PROMOTED SOONER [EPISODE 142]

Many people are frustrated because they have been overlooked for promotion. In this episode, I talk about getting promoted at work. I review a great article in Forbes entitled Seven Way to Achieve a Promotion Sooner Rather than Later by Roberta Matuson:

I also talked about the Excellence in Leadership Institute. If you need help getting to the next level, this is where you can get it.

Do you want to be successful? In spite of all of the toxicity all around us, if we want to be successful, we have to take control of our own minds. In this episode I will talk about how to have a success mindset.

  • HOW OUR BRAINS ARE WIRED FOR POLITICAL HATRED [EPISODE 140]

As I record, we are in the middle of Trump’s second impeachment trial. As the nation listens to the arguments, partisans agree with half of what is being said, and the viscerally object to the other half. Why? Why are we so politically divided? Why does politics divide us. It has to do with brain wiring and our environment.

In this episode I discuss an article from Rene Levy, a researcher at the University of Washington who spend much of his career studying the emotion of hate.
