The WWE develops popular actors, and they’ve done so throughout recent film & television history. From Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan to The Rock and John Cena, Hollywood has been scouting Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment company for their next action hero since the 80s. But what if World Wrestling’s next big cross-over to Hollywood star wasn’t even a wrestler??

From thewrap, slashfilm, & msn articles to all corners of #filmtwitter, many have praised the Emmy worthy performance of one of wrestling’s unlikeliest stars, Paul Heyman. Think boxing’s Don King or UFC’s Dana White, just give them a duster & turned up to 11. Paul Heyman is a promoter / advocate. He reps his wrestlers like lawyers, but follows them around like a sidekick. What he really does is cover for some of the worst actors in the wrestling ranks. The George to their Lenny, the Frankenstein to their Monster, when a fan favorite in-the-ring star needs a mouthpiece, that’s when Paul Heyman’s been at his best. He’s old, he’s bald, he’s fat, and he’s one of our favorite ACTORS to perform in the wrestling world in a long long while.

We certainly have a lot of fun breaking down Heyman’s recent performances leading into this past Summer Slam. A fan of wrestling, Mike 1 has quite a list of superlatives to throw out there, and Also Mike (who hasn’t watched a wrestling match in over 20 years) can’t even produce a single hardball question. Bottom Line: we’re both impressed with Heyman as a character, a theatrical performer who can sure rile up a crowd, but also as an actor who understands how to get his message across on camera.
