Golden Slipper Day 2026 is delivering five Group 1 races, a stack of talking points, and enough chaos to keep us talking for a week — and BJ, Pat, DJC and Woodhead are all over it. This is the full episode in the lead up to the biggest day of the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
We kick things off with the Ranvet Stakes — Aeliana versus Sir Delius in a $1 million weight-for-age battle over 2000 metres.
Then comes the George Ryder Stakes — the race Winx won four times — and this year its all about Autumn Glow and whether she makes it win number 11 on the trot.
And then the big one. The TAB Golden Slipper 2026 — the 70th running of the world's richest two-year-old race. Twenty runners, five million dollars, and a wide-open market with Chayan the $5 favourite, Blue Diamond winner Streisand looming large, and Bjorn Baker's pair Paradoxium and Warwoven both in the mix.
We close out the day with the Kia Ora Galaxy — the $1 million sprint that always throws up a result — featuring last year's Golden Slipper winner Marhoona dropping back in trip and Grafterburners leading the market. The boys had strong opinions. As always.
If you're new here — The Leg Up Australia is the horse racing podcast for punters who love the sport and don't take themselves too seriously. BJ, Pat and Woodhead have been best mates for 20 years, and that banter is what makes this show different. No corporate fluff, no scripted takes — just three blokes who love racing, love a bet, and love giving each other shit – especially when DJC is on the show!
