This week’s podcast episode is all about worthiness. The feelings that arise whenever we step outside of our comfort zone or launch new services or raise our prices. All the feelings of are we worthy to do X, Y or Z. As business owners this is par for the course but something we need to tackle if we are going to move forward and up- level ourselves and our business. Worthiness is a huge mindset hurdle for many of us, including me. My journey with unworthiness began with wanting to prove myself a success to my absent parent. Being that I have worked on my mindset via my own business coach I have noticed where it shows up in business for me - imposter syndrome, procrastination and doubting myself when I take big leaps. The good news is you can work on your mindset to alleviate this and enable yourself to work through it. You can use various tools such as:
Most importantly value yourself, know your worth and step outside of your comfort zone often. If you are thinking of increasing prices do it, but think about how you can add more value too. If you need guidance or someone to bounce ideas and thought off, consider a coach. I have worked with my business coach for years and continue to do so to help me through my own imposter syndrome. If you need one consider me, The Landscaper’s Coach I got your back in business ;) The Landscaper’s Circle & PodcastCall us on: 02381 800 102Email: [email protected] us a DM on Instagram with any questions you might have @thelimitlesslandscaperspodcast.Follow TLC on Instagram: @TheLandscapersCoachFollow our Podcast on Instagram: @thelimitlesslandscaperspodcastFollow me! There are so many reasons why these three simple excel spreadsheets are great for your landscaping and garden design business. Let’s start with the enquiry log. If you begin to log EVERY enquiry you can review real data i.e. how your marketing is working, where they are coming from and if there are downturns (comparing year on year). This log will also be able to assess your sales skills and conversion rates. The cashflow forecast is the most important spreadsheet in your business yet many clients still don’t use one! This allows you to see in real time if your business is in the plus or minus, whether you can afford to invest back in the business and you can run IF scenarios to help make important decisions. This really is the backbone to your business and should be regularly updated. Finally the job costing sheets these are there to see if you are pricing jobs correctly and check that you are making profit. You can also then see if what you budgeted is correct when the actual figures come in. Ultimately in any business you need to know your numbers and these three templates let you do just that as well as assist in decision making too. If you are a TLC member or 1:1 client all these templates are available in the topic section of the website. If you need help getting these three things in place then get in touch with me, The Landscaper’s Coach, I got your back in business ;) The Landscaper’s Circle & Podcast Call us on: 02381 800 102Email: [email protected] us a DM on Instagram with any questions you might have @thelimitlesslandscaperspodcast.Follow TLC on Instagram: @TheLandscapersCoachFollow our Podcast on Instagram: @thelimitlesslandscaperspodcastFollow me! This week’s podcast episode is called Taking Inspired Action, why? because I feel that inspired action is the best form of action in order to make quantum leaps in your life and business. The current definition of inspired action is: ‘You do something because you feel a strong inner urge to do it. A gut feeling. Not a small action step but a quantum leap to your dream’Just think about that for a minute. You see I am all about taking action and this is why I make sure that I am present and attending industry events, trade show, coaching sessions because it is important to remain inspired, to get those creative juices flowing in order to be able to take leaps in your life.It is helpful when you have a coach or mentor as they can support you in making these leaps quicker. Just looking at my members and 1:1 coaching clients in The Landscaper’s Circle those that attend and take action get quicker results and see more growth. They are also able to deal with the dips in the road alot better as they have been developing their mindset along the way.How do you take inspired action?
As I discuss my inspired action centres around niching down on who I want to work with and help as well as making it work for me. Taking inspired action leads to a quicker path to your goals and your dreams. It’s all about developing your mindset in order to continue to be inspired and get these quantum leaps. This week’s podcast episode is more of an update around why I missed an episode last week. Although it is a behind the scenes, honest look at life, it will get you looking at how you respond to difficult situations and how to move forward when shit happens.
Last week I had a call out of the blue saying my Dad was in hospital, queue multiple phone calls and a flying visit to Cambridge. This meant that the week was simply written off for moving forward in any part of my businesses.
It meant that I felt unfocussed, mentally exhausted, physically drained and very emotional. It impacted on business, family life and my training too. But, I have decided to not dwell on this and instead look to next week to make sure I am again taking action and moving forward.
I also have removed the guilt and the urge to work day and night to catch up. Instead I have accepted that things happen and we just have to increase our self-care and mindset cultivation.
But what can you take away from my ramblings on this weeks podcast? If you find yourself in a situation like mine or you just feel at a state of mental, emotional and physical exhaustion just take a break. Your landscaping and garden design business will not end. You will not fail. You just need to take a break.
Ask for support, stop what you are doing, delegate and ramp up the self care activities. Then plan the next week to be strong. Look at the first step not the end goal. Just take one small step forward, the rest will follow.
If you feel in need of support in your landscaping business get in touch over at The Landscaper’s Circle.

This week’s podcast episode can cause you to question yourself and your business. That is because I am talking about comparing yourself to others, compromising yourself for others and tuning back into your authentic self. It’s a slightly woo episode that will require self honesty.
Comparing yourself to others is more of a problem in this day and age than it was back when there was no social media, no camera phones and certainly no internet! However, it is a very real issue that affects many of us especially in the business space. How many times have you asked a fellow landscaper how long they are booked up for? Or, have you had many enquiries? I say who actually cares what they are doing, just focus on yourself.
You see, when we compare ourselves and our businesses to others we only know the surface level information, we know nothing of what is going on behind the scenes and what variables are creating their results. You can compare yourself to others and then look to change yourself or your business to compete with others. This can often lead to compromising your core beliefs, your core skills and your passion in order to ‘compete’.
Another thing to bear in mind when you are growing your landscaping or garden design business is that others opinions are their issues not yours. You should connect with yourself first and ignore those around you that see lack instead of abundance.
Finally remember that your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is being authentically you. It is a well known fact that people buy from people and you will sell more when you connect, build rapport and show your true self to to your clients. Especially in the landscaping industry where there is a lot of cowboys you need to showcase your skill, build trust and get them to like you over the next contractor quoting their project. Sales 101 right there.
And always, always, always be excited to step outside of your comfort zone. Ensuring your business meets and reflects your needs, your values and your mission and goals. Make the changes needed to become the best you and ensure your business follows suit.
If you need support, coaching or advice growing your landscaping business then get in touch at The Landscaper’s Circle…changes are afoot!

This week’s podcast episode is all about marketing, in particular generating leads for your landscaping and garden design businesses. ‘It’s quiet/I haven’t got any leads coming in’ is what I am hearing a lot at the moment in the industry so I thought I would share a number of ways you could generate leads for your business.
I am talking about low cost/ no cost ways that if done right could make a big impact to your business:
- Your mindset - are you living in a mindset of lack or abundance? You need to work on your mindset daily to bring to fruition all that you want from life and business
- Go back to basics - leaflets/brochure drops are a great way to raise awareness of your company in specific (desirable) locations. Do beware that you will need to know where your ideal clients live/ hang out in order to get good results.
- Utilise your database - Are you contacting open quotes, old enquiries and getting referrals and testimonials from clients. There are so many ways to utilise existing contacts via email marketing.
- Upselling - can you upsell an existing service (solution to your clients problems) to your old/existing clients? Cleaning, sealing, maintenance, planting etc.
- Wider your network - can you connect with more garden designers (if you are a landscaper) and vice versa to generate leads and referrals? Other businesses that target the same clients as you? Local events?
- Digital marketing - if you have the budget and are clear on your ideal client are paid ads the way to go? Facebook, Instagram, Linked In and Google Adwords are all great ways to target your ideal client just ensure you can monitor and amend regularly whilst keeping a handle on the budget
Most importantly if you need help in your landscaping business get in touch with me over at The Landscaper’s Circle.

This week’s podcast episode is a bit of a deep reflection into the evolving and developing of ourselves, and how this impacts on our businesses and our decisions.
I alluded to the fact that The Landscaper’s Circle is evolving and will be changing, due to the fact that I am re-aligning myself in both my businesses which means that things must change. I spent some time thinking about my ideal client and who I want to serve. Can you re-look at this in your business and niche down further?
Other things to consider, reflect back on last month and take the learnings through into this month. Reflect on yourself and what you want from life and business and what would that look like to you right now? Are you brave enough to make changes needed to live that life and step into your dreams?
Never forget where you started and how far you have come, then celebrate! Celebrate all your achievements, how much you have changed, how much the business has changed and how much life has changed. Then step into your future self to head towards the next goals and dreams.
And remember, always be true to yourself.

This week’s podcast episode is a discussion about mental health first aid with my favourite industry charity Perennial. This is always a time of year that can be challenging for those who work outside, the weather is generally awful (wet and freezing) which impacts on work and we are just coming back after Christmas close down. Both these can impact on mental health and financial health and this is what we are covering in this podcast.
Recently I have become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) thanks to the pilot scheme Perennial are running with Mental Health First Aid England. Perennial realise how important these roles are and I for one have found it hugely beneficial to not only staff and clients but friends and family.
In 2021 Perennial carried out a survey about health and well being and they found that in the horticultural industry 85% of people scored poor or below average for their mental health. Which just shows the importance of being aware of your mental health and knowing where and who to turn to for support.
Perennial are an amazing charity for the industry who are there to support all those who work in horticulture. There are so many ways they can help from their health and wellbeing app, their financial wellbeing tool (nudge), advice and lots more. Do check out their website for full details.

This week’s podcast episode is me sharing with you three ideas to have a great year! It’s a new year, full of new starts and a renewed motivation to build our businesses. In the latest issue of The Landscaper Magazine I have written about these three ideas and thought it would be a great podcast for you.
Idea 1 - Get creative and plan! Start with a vision board - see episode 149 - for more on creating your vision board. Gain clarity, align with your vision and your mission and set some goals. Then create some great habits that will keep you energetically aligned with greatness and finally spend some time planning and connecting back to the cashflow - the tangibles in your business.
Idea 2 - Carve time out for self care. Self care encompasses everything that enables you to stay physically and mentally healthy. Often connected to wellness and mindfulness it helps manage stress and elevates energy. Self care activities include; healthy eating, rest, exercise, sunlight, meditation, journalling, hydration, walks etc. The key is to make time to do something you enjoy that makes you feel good and make it a habit.
Prioritise your time and set up boundaries in life and business that will enable you to do these things. Check out this episode all about boundaries.
Idea 3 - Surround yourself with a support network to promote success. A support network should be a team of people that are in your life that you can turn to for encouragement and support. This is proven to reduce anxiety and stress. Only allow positive influences only and beware of the energy vampires. Look at local networks for business, industry networks and mentors. The Landscaper’s Circle was created for this reason to be a supportive network in which to get uplifted and inspired. I mentor other landscapers to be their support, sounding board and guide in their business. Main point being - find your people!
Over in The Landscaper’s Circle this year we are looking forward to welcoming in the next cohort of students for our From The Ground Up course - perfect if you are starting or have just started your own landscaping or garden design business and full of support and mentorship for the first six months. Find out more and join the waitlist here.
We are are starting Monday 30th January at 9.30am kicking off with a Welcome call via Zoom. Get your name on the waitlist to get some added bonuses too!
