  • Partners to strengthen your business | Mark Lane
In todays podcast episode Charlotte is talking with Mark Lane all about partnerships in business and forming connections. VIRTUALLY LIMITLESS: https://www.thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/virtually-limitless/Partnerships is working with anyone from another business whether that’s a supplier, contractor etc. Mark Lane mentions his partnership with BBC and how to make connections with other businesses. There are so many different types of partnerships which help your business to move forward, even voluntary work is a partnership that helps boost your business’ image. Don’t be afraid to go and talk to someone or to email someone because those questions you have may lead on to some good things (there's no such thing as silly questions) The worst thing they can say is no and it wasn’t right, someone else will come along and you have just got to accept it.Mark wrote letters to Prince Charles, Dan Pearson and some other garden designers for some advice when he was starting out and got replies! You have just got to shoot your shot and the worst thing that can happen is they won’t reply and that is no loss for you! Write a letter or an email, not too long, send it out and see what happens. And don’t limit your dreams! Mark Lane’s goal was to be a well known garden designer and now he is on the BBC - never thinking that he would be on TV/ When you can finance outsourcing, do it! • Do You Have Common Sense? Debunking Myths And Investing In Yourself
In today’s episode we are talking all about myths and bettering your knowledge and business. One of the things we always hear people talk about is the quote ‘if you want something done right, you have got to do it yourself’. But then you would have to train yourself in everything from accounting, to tax and more. Your time is precious, and you don’t want to waste your time on things you can outsource (been there and done that!), particularly when they do it better than you.Outsourcing is a great way to better your business as it prevents a massive overwhelm when your business moves forward. But something to note is when you do outsource, avoid micromanaging! This is not saving you time and you will demotivate yourself as well. It’s all about transitioning from a new business into expanding your team and having somebody help you. Additionally, we speak about the ‘common sense’ quote - ‘its better to learn from your own mistakes’. Would it not be better to learn from somebody else’s and avoid yourself the pain? Paula uses her own experiences to help our members, and learn from her own mistakes.Key Takeaways:- Having a good network around you of people who have the same mindset- Ask people for advice- Outsourcing is a good way to make a step forward in your business- Look at coaching and mentoring optionsLinks:Paula Landscaping Business Episode 1 - https://soundcloud.com/the-landscapers-circle/how-to-consistently-hit-5-figure-months-in-the-landscaping-industryMystery Announcement - https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/mystery-announcement/Shop the success collection planners - https://thelandscaperscircle.co.uk/product-category/success-collection/Ready to outsource? • Social Connections: Using Contacts To Improve Your Business
Todays episode is giving you step by step instructions on how to make the most out of your social connections. It’s really easy, initially look at your dream list of contacts that will make a difference to your business. This list could contain associations, suppliers, possible collaborations and more. How do you go about making contact? Utilise your social media platforms. It is by far the easiest and quickest way to contact people. No-one has loads of time on their hands so quick and easy is key.Once on social then be social! Follow them and (most importantly) interact i.e. comment on posts, like, participate in polls and comment on their stories. But don’t be spammy. Remember that once you start engaging with (and building rapport) someone they will then start to look at your social profiles which is (or should be) a shop window for your business. So, make sure you are showcasing the best of you and your business.Don’t forget to utilise tags and hashtags. Especially if posting a project photo that showcases a manufacturers product. This could lead to sharing of your post and enables you to then reach a broader audience. This podcast is a great reminder of how we can be building our business through our social connections and opening doors of opportunity. 5-10 minutes a day is all it takes so go on try it today and see if you can make a new connection or build on an existing one.KEY TAKEAWAYS•Your dream lists•Associations•Manufacturers•Collaborators•Get social•Start a conversation•Importance of tags•Utilise #VALUABLE RESOURCESTag us in your stories and follow us on Instagram @TheLandscapersCircleQuestions? • Comparing Yourself To Others?
Do you find yourself comparing yourself and your business to others in the industry? This is a natural (and very annoying) phenomenon, not only in the landscaping industry. However, it can create all feelings of anxiousness, overwhelm and ultimately questioning your success and if you even are a success. So, what does success look like to you? Success is different from person to person and from business to business. When you start talking to other businesses, like you, and discuss how long they are booked up for, what type or value projects they are working on and how many people they have working for them, it is easy to forget what success is to you and start comparing yourself to them and feeling more like a failure. We are here to say stop comparing! It is good to have a desire to become like other inspirational landscapers and designers, however, don’t compare your chapter one to their chapter three. We are all at different stages in our business and our goals are probably completely different. In this episode we look at three big things that crop up in the industry as deeming a company more successful than another: how busy, having a premises and social media. This podcast is here to remind you that you are on a different journey to everyone else. To remind you to focus on you and remember that despite what people say they are going through their own humps in the road. Enjoy this one!Tip: make your social feed ‘nice’ mute people that create the comparing issue and follow happy news for a boost of positivity in your day!KEY TAKEAWAYS•You are on your own unique journey•Remember your client avatar•Reflect on your ‘Why’•Re-visit your goals•Look at the numbers•Competitor analysis is NOT comparing yourself•Make your feed as ‘nice’ as possible•Look for inspiration VALUABLE RESOURCESNEW Masterclass!
