David’s victory over Goliath launched him into the favor of King Saul and the admiration of Israel. Rising from a shepherd to a warrior, he became Saul’s most trusted commander, the king’s musician, and even his son-in-law. Yet, as David’s fame grew, so did Saul’s jealousy.
