Ayurveda.
Most of us have heard of this ancient health system, but not too many people in the U.S. truly understand what it is all about.
Fortunately, Sahara Rose (@iamsahararose) has made it her life's mission to demystify Ayurveda, and she has done it in a way that is very practical in today's day and age, taking into account GMOs, pesticides and the growing trend of a plant-based lifestyle.
Having become obsessed with Ayurveda at an early age, Sahara Rose went on to write two best-selling books on the topic, the first of which was The Idiot's Guide to Ayurveda and her most recent one is Eat Feel Fresh: A Contemporary, Plant-Based Ayurvedic Cookbook. And for both of these books, Deepak Chopra -- her idol since she was a teenager -- wrote the foreword.
As we discuss in our interview, the foundation of Ayurveda is the three doshas (energies or archetypes) -- kapha, vata and pitta. Yet, the true meaning or representation of these doshas extends far beyond what foods a person should eat. It provides an important framework that can guide us in every area of our life.
Aside from the fact that Sahara Rose has achieved incredible success in modernizing Ayurveda and reaching such a large audience in the process, it is her personal journey that I found the most inspirational. In the face of unrelenting pressure from her family to abandon her dream of bringing Ayurveda to the world, Sahara Rose refused to listen to outside voices and was guided by her intuition to persevere and that she was, in fact, on the correct path.
This is one very, very inspirational woman.
Please enjoy!
This week's episode of The Living Maxwell Podcast was sponsored by my friends at Intellipure.
One of the least discussed but most dangerous threats to our health is ultrafine particles. These are the particles lurking in our homes but are not visible to the human eye. Unfortunately, they are also linked to cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke.
There is no better air machine on the market to deal with ultrafine particles than the Intellipure, and I have been using this company's products years before I started writing about the organic food industry. In videos that I shot using a particle counter (a Class 1 medical device), I demonstrate the power of this machine versus two of the most well-known air filters on the market -- the Dyson and the Molekule.
When you see the results, you will see why the Intellipure is the only machine I will use and that it delivers better results than anything else that you can find.
