Episode 3 of the podcast involves host Sean Bell interviewing Pete Kavanagh.
If you think you’re too old to take up running… think again.
When most people reach 59 years old, they focus on retirement, and they’re definitely not interested in taking up a new sport, or putting themselves through discomfort voluntarily.
Well Pete Kavanagh is an inspiration to many, because he is the polar opposite.
Over the past 2 years (from 59-61 years old), Pete has run 5 Ultra Marathons, 5 Marathons, and over 81 Half Marathons! This is including non-official events (that is running the distance of an official event but outside of an official event), but they are mind boggling numbers for someone who was sitting on a bar stool every Saturday with his mates just 2 years earlier.
Pete has found his passion with running, and in his own words “feels like [he’s] been doing it for a lifetime”. He loves running for charity and to help and inspire others, he is driven, disciplined, and no matter the weather, he just shows up and gets it done. That’s why inside the First42K community, he’s known as “the Goat for a reason.”
We love what Pete is doing in the running and wider community, and are proud to have him represent First42K as an ambassador.
