Our guest today, Rabbi Dovid M. Cohen, is a Rabbi, therapist, podcaster, and author - a self-proclaimed “Jack of All Trades - Master of Some.” He works with many couples to strengthen their communication skills. Rabbi Cohen is also author of the book “We’re Almost There: Living with Patience, Perseverance and Purpose,” published by Mosaica Press in 2016, “presenting a vision and pathway for confronting life's challenges.”
Today’s discussion takes us in as many directions as Rabbi Cohen’s life journey has - we touch on (our favorite topic) how to be a good listener, communication across faith backgrounds, what challenges come with parenting a child with a disability. His insights teach us to view life as a journey, not as a destination.

Money is a topic that folks rarely feel comfortable talking about - so Molly and Tricia break the ice and speak with our friend Andrea Ramos, a Money Coach and founder of Building Gen Wealth. Andrea focuses on helping Women of Color manage their money and start building wealth from the ground up. Her advice, though, is relevant for anyone looking to improve their finances.
You might be thinking, “But what does money have to do with communication?” The answer? Much more than you think!
We discuss the ways self-talk affects our relationship to finances, how to communicate with friends when trying to save money, and why we must separate monetary wealth from self-worth.

In today’s episode, we welcome Annette Whittenberger, a retired Army Combat Veteran, mother, and military spouse. She is the creator and founder of the blog “A Wild Ride Called Life™, LLC”. She initially started the blog as a platform to share her story in order to help others who were living with mental illness. She also recently created “The Truths We Hide” Podcast as a safe space to share stories of overcoming triumph. Now she uses it to coach veterans and military families on coping with mental illness and overcoming trauma.
Our talk today takes us on a journey through the power of vulnerability, the balance between sharing on social media versus maintaining privacy, and turning the challenges life gives us into something to be proud of.

Everyone feels lonely from time to time, and that’s okay! Chronic loneliness, though, can be seriously detrimental to our health and happiness.
In this episode, Molly and Tricia share their own stories of lonely experiences and talk about ways they’ve pulled themselves out of that rut. Surprisingly, none of these include actually connecting with people…! Sometimes it’s all a matter of changing our thoughts, and sometimes it’s channeling our lonely energy into productive activities. Stick around until the end for some unexpected strategies that helped when they were most “in their feelings.”

Even just hearing the word “conflict” can trigger some people’s “fight or flight” stress response. Conflict, however, is a necessary element of any relationship. In this week’s episode, we interview Jonathan Miller - a Conflict Transformation Coach. Jonathan has spent hundreds of hours practicing deliberate communication and stretching himself outside his comfort zone. He is a former program leader at Landmark Worldwide and is in the process of becoming a Certified Professional Coach through Erickson Coaching International. He has done extensive training in Nonviolent Communication and is also a dedicated Vipassana meditation practitioner, having spent well over 2,000 hours meditating over the past few years. His coaching style is rigorous, compassionate, and highly action-oriented.
In this interview, Jonathan talks with us about how to put a positive spin on conflict, ways to be more mindful when approaching disagreements, and tactics to tackle conflicts even before they occur.

Sometimes even the sweetest of people have trouble communicating with kindness in the heat of the moment. In today’s episode, Molly and Tricia talk about the heart of communication: compassion. We discuss ways to incorporate simple acts of kindness into day to day conversations, personal examples, and how taking perspective has made it all the easier.
NOTE: We want to let our listeners know that, while we are continuing to release new episodes that are not directly related to the Black Lives Matter movement, that does not mean that we have forgotten or that we are choosing to ignore the issues at hand. We stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter and are committed to doing our part to undo the racist policies that are woven into society through systemic racism and oppression. If you want to know more about how to do that, one resource is our episode titled “How to Communicate as a White Ally - Black Lives Matter.” We encourage you to also continue the conversation with your family and friends to not let the momentum of this movement end. With that being said, we are happy you are here to learn ways to be a better communicator. Thank you and enjoy the show!
