The Love, Her Podcast: Breathwork, Healing and Coming Home to Yourself episodes

  • 40. What Happens When You Stop Pretending

What if the most powerful thing you could do was simply be yourself?

In this episode, Laura shares what has actually happened in her own life as she has stepped more and more into her true self — the beautiful things, and the hard things too.

You'll hear about the moment she realized she had spent an entire weekend performing a version of herself for a group of women she wanted to impress — and what that experience taught her about the difference between fitting in and truly belonging.

Laura also gets honest about the harder side of personal growth — what happens when the people in your life struggle to accept the new, more confident you — and why that reaction is almost never really about you.

    In this episode you'll learn:

    • Why showing up as your true self actually builds confidence faster than anything else
    • The difference between fitting in and belonging — and why it matters
    • How your nervous system responds when you stop performing and start being real
    • What to do when people in your life resist your growth
    • How authenticity attracts deeper, more meaningful connections

This week's challenge: The next time someone asks for a favor or your opinion, pause before you respond. If no is what your body is telling you, simply say no. Let yourself own it. That's where confidence begins.

  • 39. The Exhaustion of Performing Happiness

What happens when you spend years pretending you’re okay… when deep down, you’re drowning?

In this deeply vulnerable episode, Laura opens up about the emotional exhaustion that comes from performing happiness, hiding your struggles, and trying to be the version of yourself you think everyone expects.

From the outside, her life looked successful – a good marriage, healthy children, a doctorate degree, a career she worked hard for. But internally, she felt disconnected, numb, and completely lost from herself.

This episode is an honest conversation about:

    • The hidden emotional cost of “holding it together”
    • Why burnout goes deeper than stress or responsibility
    • How emotional suppression keeps your nervous system stuck in survival mode
    • The loneliness of being “seen” but not truly known
    • Why vulnerability is actually one of the greatest forms of strength
    • How reconnecting to your true self changes everything
    • The first steps to stop performing and start embodying the real you

Laura also guides listeners through a calming reflective exercise to help you reconnect with yourself and explore where you may be hiding behind a version of who you think you need to be.

If you’ve ever smiled while silently struggling…
If you’ve ever felt disconnected from yourself…
If you’ve ever felt exhausted trying to be “okay” all the time…

    This episode is for you.

✨ The most powerful version of you is not the perfect version.
    ✨ It’s the honest version.
    ✨ The real version.

And that is where true healing begins.

  • 38. The Power of Women Coming Home to Themselves

On this episode of The Love, Her Podcast, Laura sits down with Stephanie Larson, MSW, LCSW, LICSW, founder of Reflective Roots Psychotherapy & Healing, and Sara Haase, owner of Croix-View Farm and co-creators of Exhale: A Women’s Event – a beautiful experience designed to help women slow down, reconnect to themselves, and heal in community with other women.

Together, they have an honest conversation about why so many women feel disconnected, overwhelmed, and stuck in survival mode… and how healing often begins with something much simpler than we think:
slowing down, being seen, and reconnecting with ourselves.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • The power of women supporting women
    • Why community is so healing for the nervous system
    • How burnout disconnects us from our true selves
    • The beauty and simplicity of modalities like:
    • Why healing doesn’t have to be complicated
    • Learning to create space to hear your intuition again
    • The emotional power of being in rooms with women who truly see you

This conversation is warm, grounding, honest, and full of reminders that you do not have to heal alone.

    ✨ Healing happens in connection.
    ✨ Slowing down is powerful.
✨ And the real you is still in there waiting to be rediscovered.

  • 37. You Don’t Have to Love Yourself Overnight

What if the reason affirmations haven’t worked for you is because you’re trying to jump too far, too fast?

In today’s episode, Laura opens up about the moment she sat in front of a mirror five years ago and physically could not say the words, “I am beautiful.” What followed was not overnight self-love, but a slow and honest journey of learning how to stop bullying herself and start speaking to herself with more compassion.

This episode is for the woman who feels disconnected from herself, exhausted from negative self-talk, and ready to begin changing the way she thinks, one believable thought at a time.

    Inside this episode:
    • Why extreme affirmations often don’t work
    • The connection between your thoughts and your nervous system
    • How negative self-talk keeps you stuck
    • The power of choosing believable, supportive thoughts
    • Why learning to love parts of yourself is enough to begin
    • A guided moment of reflection and inner connection

You do not have to go from “I hate myself” to “I love myself” overnight.

You just have to be willing to start speaking to yourself differently.

    Journal Prompt:
What is one thing I genuinely love or admire about myself today?

  • 36. You're Not Humble. You're Hiding.

There was a version of Laura that genuinely believed everyone in her life deserved better. A better mom. A better woman. A better person. And she hid that pain behind a smile for years - performing confidence, showing up, saying all the right things - while silently falling apart on the inside.

In this season three kickoff episode, Laura gets more vulnerable than ever before and opens up about why she kept herself so small for so many years — and why so many women do the same thing. If you've ever deflected a compliment, criticized yourself after an achievement, or told yourself that staying small was keeping you humble — this episode is for you.

    In this episode:

    • The exhausting performance of pretending to be confident
    • Why your inner critic isn't keeping you humble — it's keeping you small
    • The real difference between confidence and arrogance
    • A small but powerful moment that showed Laura her confidence was finally growing
    • A guided breath moment to help you reconnect to your own worth

Key takeaway: You do not become humble by tearing yourself apart. You become grounded when you learn to stand fully in who you are.

  • 35. You Hit Your Goal – So Why Don’t You Feel Anything?

Have you ever worked hard for something, finally achieved it… and felt almost nothing? No rush. No excitement. Just calm. And then wondered – what's wrong with me?

In this season finale, Laura shares a deeply personal experience that reminded her of one of the most profound lessons she's learned in her five years of growth work – and it's something she sees again and again with her clients. That quiet, steady feeling after a big win isn't a sign that something is wrong. It's a sign that something has shifted. You haven't gone numb. You've grown.

This episode will change the way you think about progress, goals, and what it actually feels like to become the next version of yourself.

    In this episode:

    ·       Why big wins sometimes feel underwhelming – and what it really means

    ·       The difference between feeling numb and feeling inner peace

    ·       How saying yes before you're ready is how you become her

    ·       A short, guided breath moment to help you connect to your intuition

    ·       3 lessons to carry with you into Season 3

Key takeaway: When it stops feeling like a big deal… that's how you know you've changed. You're rising. And that's something to celebrate. ✨

  • 34. If Everything Feels Like Too Much Right Now, Listen to This

If everything feels like too much, your fuse is short, and you can't seem to focus – your nervous system might be asking for something different than what you're giving it. In this episode, Laura gets honest about her own overwhelming week and shares what it actually looks like to slow down, listen to your body, and support yourself instead of pushing through.

    In this episode:

    ·       Why overwhelm isn't a discipline problem – it's a safety problem

    ·       What happens when we try to control things outside of our control

    ·       The unexpected moment that reminded Laura to practice what she teaches

    ·       A simple dance party hack that can shift your energy fast

    ·       Three in-the-moment tools to calm your nervous system

    ·       A short, guided breath moment to help you reset right now

Key takeaway: Overwhelm isn't a sign you're failing. It's a sign your body needs support.

  • 33. The Grief No One Talks About: Letting Go of Who You Needed Them to Be

There’s a grief that no one talks about - the grief of losing someone who is still right in front of you.

In this episode, we go into one of the most quiet, tender, and misunderstood emotional experiences: grieving the version of someone you hoped they would become.

When you finally accept that someone may not change in the way you’ve been waiting for, two things often arise: freedom and grief. Freedom from the waiting - and grief for what you thought was possible.

    Together, we explore:

    • Why it hurts so deeply to let go of who you wanted someone to be
    • The emotional stages that often come with this realization: denial, anger, sadness, and acceptance
    • How we unconsciously put parts of our lives on hold while waiting for someone to change
    • What it means to meet someone where they are, instead of where you hoped they’d be
    • How acceptance can soften resentment and create a new kind of connection
    • The surprising truth that much of what you’ve been seeking may already exist in your life
    • How this process brings you back to yourself

This episode closes with a gentle reflective breathwork practice to help you reconnect inward, soften expectation, and return to your truth.

A gentle reminder from this episode:

You don’t have to keep waiting.

Your life isn’t on the other side of their change.

It’s right here… the moment you choose yourself.

  • 32. What If They Never Change?

What if the person you’re waiting on… isn’t going to change?

In this bonus episode, we go deeper into a hard but freeing truth: sometimes the people we want to change don’t want to - or aren’t capable of it. And when you can truly see that, it shifts everything. It softens the anger, creates space for grace, and brings the focus back to the one place you do have control - yourself.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why real change has to come from within
    • The difference between someone not wanting to change vs. not being capable
    • How subconscious beliefs can block change (even when someone thinks they want it)
    • Why waiting keeps you stuck - and how to start releasing that pattern
    • Turning frustration into compassion (for them and for you)

A question to sit with this week:
Who are you waiting on to change… and are they even capable of it?

  • 31. Stop Waiting for Them to Change

You’re not stuck because of them.
    You’re stuck because you’re waiting.

    Waiting for them to change.
Waiting for them to understand you.
Waiting for them to finally give you what you need.

But every time you wait… you put your life on hold.

In today’s episode, we’re talking about one of the biggest patterns that keeps women stuck: waiting on someone else to change before allowing themselves to move forward.

    Because here’s the truth…
You can want someone to change. That’s human.
But the moment you need them to change?
That’s when you start giving your power away.

In this episode, you’ll learn how to:

    • Recognize where you’ve been waiting on someone else
    • Understand the difference between wanting vs. needing someone to change
    • See how this pattern is keeping you stuck
    • Shift from control to emotional responsibility
    • Reconnect with your power and bring the focus back to you

This episode also includes a guided moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself—so you can begin to feel the shift, not just think about it.

Because your life doesn’t begin when they change.
It begins the moment you stop waiting.

    Reflection Questions

Take a moment to go deeper:

    • Who am I waiting on to change?
    • What am I making that mean about me?
    • Where am I giving my power away?
    • What is one small way I can show up for myself right now?

    This Week’s Challenge

Notice when you find yourself wishing someone would change.

When you catch it, pause and ask:

    • Am I waiting on them so I can move forward?

    If yes:

    • Where am I giving my power away?
    • How can I bring the focus back to me?

    And simply notice what shifts.
