Prophetic dreams and visions. Supernatural manifestations. I used to view these occurrences as attaining greater spiritual understanding and that they should be occurring with normalcy. Scripture gives us some insight on dreams and how we are to view such things. For those who are in the prophetic movement, dream interpretation is sought with even the use of a dream dictionary. Now being an observer looking in, I began pondering on any similarities that the New Age may have with this particular subject. I recently took a trip to the local large chain bookstore in order to see if the New Age had dream dictionaries. What I found was more unpleasant similarities with what I had once been involved, leading me to talk about this and the need to take a Biblical perspective on the topic of dreams and visions, among other related things.

Let me ask you a question. Do you ever have to resist the urge to be "salty"? I do not mean in the Biblical way. I mean in the way of the world. The temptation is there for all of us at one time or another. Yet the Word reminds us to have our words seasoned with salt (Colossians 4:6) and that we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13).

I don't know if you have heard Psalm 42 yet by Shane and Shane. If you haven't, I encourage you to go have a listen and then go and read Psalm 42 in the Bible. You know, there are specific verses I have heard through the years and I thought they meant one thing until I took the time to go and read it in context. Psalm 42:7 was one of those verses for me. I had the meaning completely wrong, and now that I understand it better, the entire psalm has been a blessing when navigating the troubled waters life holds at times. Without Christ, it is impossible.

There are topics I mull over for a while before I talk about them. This is one of those topics. I never considered myself legalistic when entrenched in the Charismatic church, but I am here to tell you that it is indeed possible and present. I hope you read this understanding that it comes from a place of love and concern for those who have reached out to me and shared how much freedom they now have after coming out of the teachings and such perpetuated in some of these movements. My desire as always is that Christ would be glorified and that the truth would set others free.

Have you ever heard a statement that left you with more questions than an answer? What if that statement seemed to contradict Scripture? Today's blog post has to do with the prophetic and the belief that error is justified or even expected today. One prophet in the New Testament is used to support this belief, and his name is Agabus. But was Agabus incorrect in prophesying to Paul in Acts 21? I am here to come to the defense of Agabus. I wanted to share those with you today and to encourage those of you who may have been told to not use reasoning or to even not think with your mind about spiritual things out of fear that you will quench the Spirit or limit God. A few weeks ago, I came across the Prophetic Standard Statement and took the time to read through it. Upon reading it, I was compelled to write some questions and express some thoughts concerning this document. We are living in times when we must be willing to share the truth in love and to point people back to Jesus Christ while standing upon the Word of God as the solid foundation of truth. Finally, all that we do must be in love. I write and record these podcasts out of love and concern for others because I wish that someone had done the same for me. Whether you agree or disagree with the few areas addressed here in this episode, I hope that you will be compelled back to Scripture for the ultimate standard.

If you have ever struggled with feeling weak in prayer or in life as a whole when facing tough times, this episode is to help you. We have all felt that way at one time or another, and it is encouraging to know that our weakness is something which we are to embrace as believers in Christ. There are numerous others in Scripture who were weak in times of prayer. The apostle Paul was one of them. 2 Corinthians 12 is a great reminder for us that weakness is not to be despised, but it is to be used for HIs glory and to be perfected in His strength. Have you been taught about different spirits that are not apparent in Scripture? Have you been plagued with the thought that you may have a religious spirit, an orphan spirit, or even a Jezebel spirit? ​I find it interesting now that all of this talk of demonic indwelling, demonology, and erroneous spirits operating in people is not said of the world necessarily, but it is said to Christians concerning fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I began to notice a few years ago while reading the Bible that I could not find some of these spirits mentioned though dozens of books can be purchased that are dedicated to extrabiblical knowledge concerning them. There are entire doctrines being built upon the presence of these spirits. Rather than going on personal experience, we should be asking if this is Biblical or if people are being led off into myths. Join me today as we look at some of these teachings and test them against Scripture. There is great freedom found in the Word of God!

Jesus refers to Himself as the good Shepherd a few times in John 10. He calls those who follow Him His sheep. Have you ever thought of yourself as a sheep? It may not seem flattering as sheep are defenseless and are prone to wander and to get into dire predicaments, but it seems quite fitting given our ways at times. We desperately need the good Shepherd! Join me as we discuss this further, looking at John 10 and talking about ways that we can wander from Christ. Thank God for His Word and for sending His Son to save us and to keep us!
