Low Carb 101
Update: Whist there are a number of sources generous enough to define a LCHF diet as being less than 150 grams of carbohydrates per day, I have revised this to

Gillian Harvey is a qualified and registered Clinical Nutritionist, founder of Plate of Life Nutrition, Ambassador for That Sugar Movement and Nutrition Network accredited LCHF Practitioner and Advisor. She is also co-admin within the Low Carb Melbourne Facebook support group.
She is passionate about helping to turn the tide of modern disease; empowering individuals and communities to become healthier and happier.
After a 20-year corporate career, life taught Gillian a hard lesson – if your health has been run into the ground, Trouble has found you. Fortunately, she was able to turn around her health by making lifestyle changes, primarily improved nutrition (especially ditching sugar). This was life changing for Gillian and she wanted to help those around her improve their health too; simply by eating better (which is not as simple as it seems, given all the mixed messages we receive every day).
Her practice is focussed on allergy management, gut health, metabolic health and weight-loss through personalised treatment programs which utilise Low Carb (LCHF), Intermittent Fasting (IF) and the Modified Mediterranean Diet (MMD).
In addition to individual consultations she leads corporate wellness and community workshops and provides advice to industry including nutrition for Body Transformation Programs, also low-carb and allergy friendly menu design.
Having experienced the power of good food and nutrition first-hand, Gillian lives by the following adage:
"The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison,"
Quote by Ann Wigmore in the tradition of Hippocrates, the father of medicine (431 BC)
"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
