  • Deciphering Between Intuition and Fear

Episode 280: Do you often resist masculine structure and leadership? Is your body screaming that it isn’t a good fit for you, or is it your fear/ego coming up to keep you safe from going outside your comfort zone? Do you often question whether it’s fear that’s holding you back or your intuition?

It can be tricky to navigate structure and leadership with our flow and creativity. It can be difficult to distinguish between a hard “no” and what fear is telling us we should do to keep us safe. It can be challenging to know if it’s our intuition or our laziness that’s keeping us from going on the date, attending the networking event, starting our own business, etc.

If you’ve been trying to navigate these waters, listen to this podcast episode as Madelyn explains how she checks in with herself to know whether it’s intuition or fear. She gives you several examples, as well as offers her best tools, so you can easily move forward with processing your decisions with ease.

    Show notes:

    • We see our own resistance to structure reflected in others.
    • The main reason why we refuse to have someone lead.
    • Why we often reject the masculine container.
    • How to go inward to see how to create your own boundaries.
    • Why your ego is simply trying to keep you safe.
    • The difference between intuition and laziness.

    • Guidelines on how to go deeper to questioning your fear and getting curious on the why.
    • "We're moving from discipline fatigue to decision fatigue and the balance is to find a middle ground."
    • The necessary barrier around social media.
    • When we don't go to the event you signed up for, you're really saying: “I don’t want to feel uncomfortable so I’m just going to stay home."
    • How to summon in your masculine energy.
    • Purpose-driven (masculine) vs feeling-driven (feminine).
    • Why commitment is hard for feminine beings.

Episode 278: Do you want help in going after your dreams—the ones that you feel are totally unobtainable, but keep burning within you? Do you want to get better at the work you do? Do you want to finally take that plunge and move across the world? Whatever your big desire is, hiring a coach can help you obtain in.

  • Three Stages of Communication from David Deida

Episode 277: In this podcast episode, Madelyn Moon helps you to understand the three stages of communication introduced by David Deida. According to David Deida, an international teacher and author, there are 3 stages of relating. These stages govern how we share our desires and feelings in this world with the most important people in our life.

Madelyn has been living her life by these stages of communication for the past two years. She's becoming more empowered and embodied by this work, leading to deeper, fulfilling relationships, as well as more fun and a playful nature. She's never taught this information before as she wanted to fully become immersed it in well enough to articulate it, but it's time she passes this juicy information on to you to transform and heal your current relationships.

Through this brief introduction and the several examples that she gives, you'll understand how to love deeper, express yourself fully and give your greatest gifts in your relationships.

    Show notes:

    • Stage 1:
      • Archetype - The 1960's submissive housewife and the macho breadwinner.
      • This stage is what we experience most of the time in this world.
      • It's our old wounds/trauma being reenacted over and over.
      • "Repressed, shut-down archetype" — we're given a role and we have to stick with it.
    • “Withholding is not how we create loving, deep partnership.”
    • How to share your truth so that the person is magnetized by you.
    • Stage 2:
      • Archetype - The working girl and the sensitive boy.
      • “I” statements—speaking from your perspective.
      • "When this happened, I felt..."
      • Very communicative… you feel a trigger and you’re upfront about it.
    • Stage 3:
      • Archetype - the radiant goddess and the warrior of love.
      • You bring your gift of creativity and embodiment to your partner— you take the focus off of you.
      • This is where polarity comes from.
    • Masculine’s nervous system is really thick because they’ve had years of being desensitized.
    • Example: wanting your partner to help you clean.
    • Feminine: there’s never enough love.
    • Masculine: there’s always so many burdens.
    • “Give the thing that you would like to receive.”
    • How to make people-pleasing light and fun: “I’m a very bad girl.”

  • Death As An Ally to Love with Dr. Jordana Jacobs

Episode 276: Dr. Jordana Jacobs is a clinical psychologist in private practice in New York City. Her approach is integrative, combining psychodynamic and existential therapy into her treatment of patients. Dr. Jacobs’ training at Memorial Sloan Kettering working with terminally ill cancer patients, her studies in Northern India, and her Vipassana meditation practice inspired her research on the complex relationship between death awareness and love. Her dissertation, entitled “Till Death do us Part: The Effect of Mortality Salience on Satisfaction in Long-term Romantic Relationships” specifically explored the ways in which priming for death has the potential to increase intimacy in partnerships. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Jordana Jacobs now gives talks and leads meditations aimed towards helping people accept inevitable mortality so that they are able to live and love more fully.

  • Disappearing in the Name of Self-Love is Bullshi*t!
Episode 275: Self-love memes can have quite an impact on us—both positively and negatively. This podcast episode is all about debunking popular "inspirational" self-love memes that float around the interwebs. We normally think of memes as relatively harmless, but they're often used to propagate ideas and influence thoughts in our culture, which can be dangerous when you don't take the time to truly pay attention to what's behind the words.

Madelyn Moon is stepping on her soapbox to talk about one self-love meme in particular that got her attention recently. The meme states, "If I disappear on you, it's out of self-love." She discusses why this meme is incredibly toxic to our psyche. She explains why popular memes such as this can cause dissonance, wounds, and even trauma for people.
