The Maine Basketball Rankings Podcast

It's a little bit of a different show today, as I'm bringing you my conversation with Ben Kennedy on the podcast Pucks From the Pine Tree. We talk about the Cooper Flagg impact, youth sports, movies, and so much more.

Whenever there's breaking Celtics news, I get the OG Celtics podcaster Jon Duke on to break it down. We talk about the devastating Tatum injury, the Celtics' path forward,, the Luke Kornet game, and the insanity of the Mavericks getting the #1 pick and the chance to pick our man from Newport.

Also: can Kelly get him out of Dallas?

When the Forecaster stopped printing their physical paper earlier this year, sports editor Michael Hoffer found himself out of a job. On Sunday, he launched a newsletter called "Hoffer's High School Sports", the new home for his legendary game stories. Naturally, I had to have him on to promote this new chapter in his career. And because spring sports are about to start, we did a quick preview of the contenders in southern Maine.Subscribe to Hoffer's High School Sports:https://www.hoffershighschoolsports.com/

Erik Atwell used to be a screenwriter, but now he's a sportswriter, covering GSA for the Penobscot Bay Press. We talk about his path from Hollywood to Blue Hill, his novel, getting thrown into the fire of soccer playoffs, and his quest to make it to the Cross Center.

The Celtics might have a new owner, so resident C's expert Jon Duke joins me to talk about the potential new owner. Plus, we discuss the impact of Cooper's tourney run and his Bingo commercial, take an early look at the Mr. Basketball race for 2026, and so much more.

March Madness is here and Adam Robinson joins me to go over the brackets, including how far we think Duke can go, whether or not Carolina should be dancing, how much Gonzaga got screwed, our Final Four picks, and more!

The Biddeford Girls lost the Gold Ball in heartbreaking fashion to Caribou, but the future is bright for a program that leaned heavily on sophomores and freshmen on the way to the first Regional Title in school history. Head Coach Jeannine Paradis joined me to talk about the devastation of the loss, rebuilding another program, getting kids to focus on things they can control, and whether or not she's allowed inside the borders of Newcastle.

It's Champions Week with St. Dom's coach Josh LaPrell! Learn how he inherited a team with no summer basketball and no JV team and turned it into a State Champion.

Before the tourney started, Jay Baines joined me to pick a Cinderella in each region so I thought it would be fun to see how we did. Jay came up with a scoring system for our picks and we picked winners for all the State Games.

The tournament is fast approaching and that means it's time to pick against the favorite see who might surprise everyone on their way to a Regional Title. This year, Jay Baines joined me to double the predictions.
