Murder is up in NYC during the lockdown.  But why?  One contributing factor may be that New York, like many other jurisdictions around the country, are letting ravening animals out of prison.

San Bernadino, for instance, let out a 50-year-old man who fatally stabbed his pregnant wife.

The good news is that NYC mayor Bill de Blasio had the good sense to call the crimes committed by those he just let out "unconscionable."  That should console the victims of the present crime spate.

A man who'd previously been detained at Rikers on a rape charge was let out... and tried to rape a lady.

However, none of these can compare with the reprehensible legal maneuverings by social justice legal firm Columbia Legal Services.  That organization attempted to free all prisoners in the state of Washington over the age of 50, including one of the most prolific serial killers in US history, the Green River Killer (49+ victims).  Their request, thank god, was denied by a 5-4 vote in the Washington Supreme Court.

I present two advantages of our current lockdown, but two disadvantages too.  I suspect the disadvantages will prove to outweigh the advantages for most of the country (i.e. not NYC).  Specifically, I cite the risk that by putting everyone in lockdown, the progress of the disease will continue to trickle.  As a result, everyone will get tired of the lockdown and get back to business.  This will put old people and those with preexisting conditions at risk, which could have been avoided had we ONLY locked down those high-risk groups.

In response, I pose three hypotheticals:

1. Imagine you can give 1000 girls a vaccine to a deadly disease.  Normally 50 of the 1000 will die of the deadly disease.  But three will die from the vaccine.
2. You can provide urgent expert medical attention to only 100 girls, which will halve their risk of dying from the vaccine.  But you will be unable to provide the vaccine to the remaining 900 girls due to lack of funds.  45 will die of the deadly disease.  But odds are good none will die from the vaccine.
3. You can provide compensation to the families of those who die due to the vaccine, but will have to reduce the study to 500 girls.  25 will die of the deadly disease.

Donald Trump was accused of terrible things over his suspicion that the true Rona death rate was <1%.  Now a very early (the first?) antibody study has come out:  It reveals, in the German town studied, the true deathrate was 0.37%.  Furthermore, a proxy study has suggested a true deathrate in the USA of 0.1%.  Will the media admit to being reflexively anti-Trump?  Don't put aside too many home projects waiting for that to happen...
