  • Mark Salter
Your browser does not support the audio element.Podcasting is an interesting game to be in. It has been shared before that the work that is required is substantial to say the least. Between the time put into researching, background work, technical workings, and marketing yourself, you already find yourself stretched incredibly thin. Then throw in the actual show prep, and then the recording the episode, it takes a toll on a person. Especially if this is something that is done on the side of a normal life. Sometimes one may need to just step away to recollect themselves and come back even better to the fight. This week’s guest on The Malliard Report can attest to this scenario.
This week Jim welcomes Mark Salter to the show to share his favorite elements of podcasting, and why he decided to step away for a period of time. Mark is host of Salty Talk radio, Florida resident and resenter of the Florida Man trope, and sustainable farming enthusiast. A titan in the tee box, and a veteran behind the mic; Mark shares his thoughts on the intermingling of sports and politics, why he’s stepping away from podcasting, flips the questions onto Jim, and decided who his dream guest would be.
Mark’s podcast can be found through all podcasting applications (even the newly named podcasting apps) under the title Salty Talk Radio and are definitely worth a listen. • Live Calls September 2020
Four months ago, we as a nation bore witness to a situation that most (that live outside major disaster areas) have never encountered before. A time were simply going out for essentials was a complete crapshoot to see if you were able to get lunch meat or toilet paper. As chaos slowly subsided, we have seen shelves once again stocked back to their almost normal levels, but is this history soon to repeat itself? With constant forewarnings of production shortages or flat out stoppages, no workers, supply chain disintegration, the ripple effect may continue to happen for quite some time. Another wave of shortages is being doomed and gloom in recent media rumblings and we can only hope that these are pessimistic media spins and not the prelude to another Mad Max-style world at our local Piggly Wiggly.

This week on The Malliard Report Jim opens the phone lines for the fan-favorite live calls; and this week is certainly a mixed bag of hot button topics. From the grumblings of future food shortages to school re-openings, the placing of legalization of recreational marijuana higher on the gubernatorial importance list than the policies surrounding how the school year for one state, and even the idea of taxation on the religious institutions. The thought train makes numerous stops, picking a lot of opinion up along the way. What are your thoughts on these? Should returning school children play second chair to legalization? Should prosperity pastors like Joel Osteen allowed to be allowed to live in mega-mansions, own private jets, and maintain tax-exempt? Is California really the dumpster fire that people like to portray it as?

  • John Carman

It seems as if every time that Jim has this week’s guest on the show, the world seems to be falling apart. One could argue that the world is always falling apart, but inevitably things take a more turbulent turn just prior John’s arrival. A “pandemic” rages on, sexual predators running on ballot tickets, anarchy in the Pacific North West, UFOs, and so much more. This week, Malliard alum and favorite John Carman joins the show to give rapid-fire answers on a number of topics that dominate our twenty-four-hour news cycles today.

A long term veteran of law enforcement and seeing a career that has spanned across several decades, John Carman has served as a member of The Secret Service (protecting the President, First Family, and many other prominent heads of state), worked as a San Diego Police officer, US Mint Police (protecting gold bullion at the US Federal Depository in San Francisco), and as an agent for the US Customs and Border Patrol. While John holds an esteemed career, this is not where his notoriety comes from. Maintaining a belief in the oath that he took, John believed that the proper response to the corruption that he was witnessing was to report it. This whistleblowing has led him to be put on a proverbial blacklist and have “tainted” reputation. This has yet to deter John and continues to push forward in exposing the truth.

John continues to spread the truth about the corruption that runs rampant among various government agencies, what’s happening in the news and more. However, John finds himself struggling as he continues to push back against the powers that be. Rising legal costs and more have prompted John to launch a Patreon. Feel free to stop by John’s Patreon and contribute to help him with his cause. • Live Calls on Education
Speaking from a personal stance, the fifth of July was always one of the most disappointed days of the year as a kid. You are more than likely still just coming down off the excitement from the day prior: awesome food, friends, and a night of blowing stuff up. Then it happens, your mom asks you to go to the store with her and BAM! Right at the front door was a huge reminder that those long summer nights are but a fleeting moment. Three simple words that neckbreakingly snapped kids back to reality…Back…To…School. This year as we cautiously make our way into that season things look a lot different. With more questions than answers, and everyone in a fog of confusion, we look to the fall with timid reluctance expecting another proverbial beat down.

To pull it away from the not so pleasant future, let’s take a moment to focus on happier past. We all have those moments through our educational careers that stuck with us, shaped us into who we are today, or pushed us into a direction that we never knew possible. Educators; truly the hardest working, salt of the earth individuals out there are the ones that mold the future. This week on The Malliard Report Jim opens up the phone lines for all to share some of their most memorable teachers, insight from those in the field itself, and more.

This is another great episode for the record books. We should all take a moment to reflect those that have and do influence us. Those that helped shape us. Made us who we are. If you are not part of the discussion on Tuesday nights in the Duck Pond you are missing out! Remember Tuesday, 9 p.m. EST. Also, head over to malliard.com for all of the latest news., past shows, merch and more. Share the show, rate on your favorite podcasting app, and follow Jim on all social media platforms @malliard.
