In this episode of The Mama Psychedelia with Aurora Divine, we have such rich conversation on her life’s journey with entheogens, healing, and birth keeping.  We hear stories of her deep rooted ancestral connection to psilocybin, herbalism, mycology, and iboga, and some deeply soul touching ceremonial experiences, initiations,  and perspectives. 

Born on the Cusp of Exposure, Aurora is a Hoodoo, Isese Aborisha, Entheogenic facilitator, cultivator, educator and doula. Having been gifted with what the Elder Hoodoos called 4 Eyes, and under the tutelage of her ATR practicing lineage, Aurora honed her gifts over the course of two decades to found The Akashic Garden, a safe space for the BIPOC to reconnect to ancestral knowledge, especially in regards to entheogens. It’s a place to heal, thrive and grow. 

Aurora is also a Spiritual Wellness Facilitator specializing in Shadow Work Coaching, Sound Healing, Breath Work & Reiki as well as Entheogenic Pregnancy & Motherhood. Combined with an extensive knowledge of plant medicines and entheogens passed along by her elders, Aurora works to restore the memory of the valuable psychedelic traditions cultivated by her African and indigenous ancestors, and to pass the knowledge of nature’s many gifts that have been lost somewhere between North America and the Middle Passage.

She is passionate about de-stigmatizing the use of entheogenic medicines for mothers and families through storytelling. In this episode of The Mama Psychedelia Podcast, with Michelle Maclean, we chat about her 17 year (and counting) path as a birth worker, her own birthing experiences, and her journey as a surrogate, carrying life that wasn’t her own. We explore the psychedelic nature that comes through giving birth: the hormonal high, the other plane of existence we enter as birthing beings, the expansion. Michelle is a birth and postpartum doula that has been serving families living on the Unceded territories of the Coast Salish nation, also known as Vancouver since 2005, having attended about 1400 births. She is a proud mother of two and surrogate to one. Her vast experience in the birth space has opened her heart in supporting birthing people on all types of journeys, from home water birth to high risk hospital. Michelle co-facilitates a Trans and Queer pregnancy and birth group, teaches prenatal education, she is a mentor Doula, and was a Holistic Doula trainer at Pacific Rim College in Victoria for 9 years. Birth and death is where her heart lies and she will continue to support families in welcoming new life and releasing it for as long she can. This conversation touches me in so many ways, may you receive her magic and her overflowing heart, as we ride the waves together through beauty, challenge, and transformative growth.
