Many people would say we live in difficult times. I would say we live in a time of opportunity. Change starts with your mindset, and how you apply that mindset to a problem. When most people discuss a topic like gun ownership, they feel social pressure to take a side. Unfortunately, that mindset, many times, can mean we are not talking about solutions.  

In this episode, I sit down with Jesse Meeker and Brandon Banks, the founders of the Placer Sporting Club. We discuss a wide range of topics relating to gun ownership in these times.  Brandon spent 8 years in the Marine Corps and Jesse was a Military Police Officer while serving in the U.S. Army, as well as a civilian police officer in Arizona.  They share how their military backgrounds helped them develop their business and the opportunities they see for responsible gun ownership, training and community involvement.  

Positive change starts with a conversation. I hope this conversation helps our community see opportunity, where others see problems.

Is Health the NEW Wealth?
As an entrepreneur, we hear regularly that winning requires commitment to our dream, perseverance, hard work and some luck. What happens when the work gets really hard, and we don’t have a personal foundation of health? As COVID changed my routines, it opened up space for me to explore this question.

This episode is the start of a new track for the Mark Haney Show, where I share my journey towards a more holistic approach to entrepreneurship. Every few episodes I will take time to discuss my personal lessons, and include expert guests to help guide us toward a better understanding of how to build a foundation of health (regardless of your stage as an entrepreneur), so you can endure the tough times and be able to enjoy the challenges and success.

Is Sacramento an innovator in Farm to Fork (or Glass)? 

 

Patric Hillenbrand has built his new barn-turned-brewery, Hillenbrand Farmhaus Brewery on a bucolic 13 acre farm in Newcastle, CA.  Each of his handcrafted beers use fruits and honey harvested on-site!  Guests can take in views of the farm's 1-acre hop field, haystacks and rows of sprawling oak trees that encircle the property. 

 

In this episode, I sit down with Patric and find out how he started his journey as a "local boy" and his story leading him to build Hillenbrand Farmhaus Brewery.  During our discussion, Patric also shares why it matters for an entrepreneur to keep themselves healthy in mind, body and soul.  Patric also shares what he would tell himself at 25 and what success means to him in life.

Rick and I are back for the fourth and final chapter of my entrepreneurial journey. In this final episode we will be talking about the importance of have a strong inner circle and how to attract the right people into yours.

My inner circle helps overcome fear, doubt, and uncertainty in this crazy world of entrepreneurship. I don't think I would have been able to accomplish half of what I've done if I did not have the right people around me. They help me feel a little less afraid. 

How are we supposed to attract these people into our lives though? Rick and I talk about the three things you can do as an entrepreneur to have the rock stars out there take notice, buy into your dream, and will run through any brick wall with you to make it a reality.
