Today, Tim is starstruck (although, unfortunately, not speechless) when he talks to the legendary comedian, Rita Rudner, whose first special "Born to Be Mild" completely changed his stupid, chauvinistic take on women in comedy. Rita has has produced multiple comedy specials, appeared the Tonight Show and Letterman, filled Carnegie Hall multiple times, written books and movies, and holds the record as the longest-running solo comedy show in Las Vegas. Not only did Rita tolerate Tim's bumbling questions, but she is coming to Rams Head On Stage on July 15th! Tickets will go fast, so don't wait!

On Thursday, June 28, 2018, a gunman opened fire in the newsroom of Capital-Gazette Communications killing five. The community has rallied around The Capital and Annapolis will be stronger because of this loss. But there are needs. We decided to head to Caliente Grill and invite whomever wanted to come and talk about whatever they wanted to talk about--words of encouragement, condolences, or just thoughts. Caliente Grill generously agreed to donate $1 per drink sold to the Capital-Gazette Families Fund and we raised $200.  THANK YOU ROXANNA AND RAUL FROM CALIENTE!

But for over an hour, we heard from public officials, the public in general, a reporter from The Capital and one of the survivors.  We had a big crowd and there was a lot of noise, but have a listen as Paul Gillespie recalls that afternoon in the newsroom, Chase Cook talks about the fortitude in pressing forward, Susan O'Brien on the importance of local news, Yasemin Jamison on her thoughts, and a poem about this place we now find ourselves in. To all who came out..thank you. In 1997, James Borchelt had an idea. Gather 4 local bands. Have them play a street festival for free and give away the money.  Seemed reasonable. And THAT was the start of Eastport A Rockin. Maybe 700 people attended to hear The Kelly Bell Band, The Eastport Oyster Boys, Jepetto and Non-Fiction. Now, 22 years later, it's grown ever so slightly under the tutelage of Borchelt, and successive organizers and literally thousands of volunteers. This year...this Saturday...there will be 39 bands on 4 stages. And crowds can still dance to The Kelly Bell Band and The Eastport Oyster Boys...along with the Almighty Senators, Skribe, and plenty of your regional favorite musicians while enjoying the cool breezes off Back Creek at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. Listen in as we talk about the history with James Borchelt, and the present and the future of Eastport A Rockin with current Director Jessica Pachler and Music Director Christina Willharm who have put together one fantastic Saturday! Volunteers are ALWAYS welcome (free admission) and tickets are available online and in advance.

Kids will be kids, teens will be teens, and water will find its own level. For millennia, kids have experimented and tested limits, while exasperated parents have been just a step or two behind, trying to save them from themselves. The latest battle? Vaping and, more specifically, Juuling. 

Cigarettes are passé. They are expensive, smelly, and easily detected by parents and teachers. Juuling is the sneakier and more insidious alternative. Is it more dangerous than smoking, though? The Crabs sit down with Dr. Stephen M. Cattaneo, MD, who is the Medical Director of Thoracic Oncology and the Division Director of Surgical Oncology at Anne Arundel Medical Center who breaks it all down for us.
