Let's break the stigma around having a therapist. Â
Only a handful of people know that I recently got a therapist(I don’t even think my brother & mom know). Well I guess now they do:)
I decided to get a therapist three weeks ago because there were certain areas/struggles in my life that I have been working on for years, that I haven’t been able to overcome.Â
These things have been so ingrained in my identity, that I started to believe that it was just who I was. It was eating me up inside, I felt trapped & I knew that these challenges were going to be extremely difficult to overcome by myself.Â
Ive been working on these issues for a long time, praying on them, asking friends for help, but ultimately made the decision to get professional help three weeks ago. In these three weeks, I have seen amazing progress in my life, my daily habits and my overall happiness.Â
I have made more progress in the past three weeks than I have made in the past three years. I attribute it to speaking with a professional who has years of real life experience & specializes in what i’m working on.Â
Now, i’ve been interested in getting a therapist for years but the sessions were always so expensive & typically weren’t covered by insurance. I never went and saw a therapist before this month.Â
I stumbled upon Better Health a few weeks back and would highly recommend to anyone that is struggling or looking to have an unbiased professional to talk to. No matter your age, I believe that therapy can help in someway.Â
One of my goals of posting this is to contribute to the conversation around de-stigmatizing mental health issues & talking to a therapist. If you’re suffering from mental health issues, you’re not wrong, you’re not different & you’re not weak.Â
There is help available if you are searching & in my opinion, those that seek help & are trying to better their lives are the strongest of all of us on Earth.
New job, Â Pierce dropped his first song, new apartment. A lot of exciting things going on in San Francisco. Here is a quick update on all the new changes!Â
I used to have crippling anxiety for the first 20 years of my life. Like so many of us, I struggled with mental health issues. I was never comfortable in my own skin and felt like I didn't have anyone to talk to about what was going on. Back in the early 2000's, there wasn't as much awareness around mental health as there is today. I created this podcast to show the real side of myself. Social media allows us to paint a beautiful picture and we are all able to showcase all of our highlight reels & best moments. This is me being vulnerable and this is my true story.Â
It wasn't until I moved to Santa Barbara, CA that things started changing for the better in my life. I started hanging around with healthy people that practiced yoga, meditation and I started adopting some of these habits. I was very present in my daily life and was on an amazing path of self discovery. In this episode, I talk about 3 main habits that I have implemented that have helped handle & live with my anxiety.
The Top 3 Habits I Have Implemented:
1 - Open and Honest CommunicationÂ
2- Developing a Consistent Exercise Routine
3- Developing a Consistent Meditation RoutineÂ
I hope this episode has helped you in some way. You can watch the full video by following my Youtube @Jake Gagain. Much love from San Francisco!Â
Prior to 2018, I knew absolutely nothing about credit. I thought having credit was bad and that it's better to pay for everything with cash. After hours of watching youtube videos & reading on this subject, I realized that this thinking was flawed. Building credit & having good credit is a tool that can set you up for financial success down the road.
In this episode, I talk about how to build credit, the benefits of credit, how your credit score is calculated, and the myths surrounding having credit. I'm not a professional by any means but I do have a credit score over 770, a credit limit well over 105k and zero credit card debt (which im very proud of). I started playing the game in 2018 and wanted to share what I have learned with you. It's never to late to start building credit, you can start today.Â
I hope you enjoy this episode and were able to gain some value from it. Feel free to share this with a friend and watch the full video on my youtube channel @jakegagain.Â
Pierce Romero joined me on the podcast today. We've known each other for over 8 years and had a good time recording this episode. No script, no questions, just us having fun. We cover a wide variety of topics and it was great catching up with Pierce.Â
