We’re rolling on short rest this week, mostly in an effort to set up the rest of this fall’s schedule. I suppose I COULD have just waited an extra week after TIFF to get going, but four weeks in between full episodes already seemed so long.

It feels like so much has happened since I last sat down on my couch and turned on my microphone. Heck, episode ninety-four had me sitting in short sleeves on a patio…the evening of episode ninety-five had me zipping up my fall coat. Hopefully that time lapse between full episodes hasn’t caused too many of y’all to tune out.

Time to turn off the mic.

While there are still many words left to be written, I’m offering up this piece of audio content before the final embers of TIFF 2013 have stopped glowing.

The stars aligned for me on Friday at TIFF. Not only did I get my second wind – just in time for the final push this weekend – but I snagged a podcast guest I’d been hoping to sit down with all week.

All sad signs that summer is almost over folks.

However, before we pull our fall coats out of the closet, and start pouring pumpkin spice lattes down our throats, I wanted to get one last gasp of summer. One last evening of fresh air spent discussing film as the sun set on my city. So I called on a good friend, found a patio, and rolled tape.

What you hear is completely raw without the usual spit-and-polish that I put into the show. If you’re a longtime listener, you’ll recall that I do one of these every summer, just to change things up and get a bit of oxygen into the show.

So you know that road trip I’ve been mentioning around these parts? Well you didn’t really think that two podcasters were going to get together for a weekend and not roll tape, did you?

In honour of my first ever time in the Land of 1000 Lakes, I thought we’d record something special to discuss two of the greatest cinematic minds the state ever produced. It was either that, or review PURPLE RAIN, and I think we made the right choice.

I’ve said it many times in many places these last few days, but it bears mentioning once again – many thanks go out to my friends Emma and Andrew for being such wonderful people, and gracious hosts.
