About Malavika Varadan 

Malavika Varadan first discovered her love for theatre when she was 13, with the Artists Repertory Theatre in Bangalore. She went on to act in several productions in the city with various theatre groups before she moved to Dubai to pursue her career in radio. She continued to act and be on stage both through her job and outside of it.

She was featured as one of Masala's 100 most influential people in the UAE. Her TED talk on 7 ways to make conversation with anyone is one the most-watched TEDx talks in the world - with about 20 million views. She took The Hive over in January 2019.

If there’s nothing you can do that’s going to change the outcome of the situation, then what’s the point of worrying about it? And if there is something you can do about it, then get off your backside and do it. Put a plan of action in place and all of a sudden worrying fizzles away.

If you don’t love yourself, how can you expect others to love you? If you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect others to believe in you? If you don’t trust yourself, how can you expect others to trust you?

Iris Maria, also known as Mommy Mika, has always been passionate about organizing unique events, mainly specializing in children's birthdays dating all the way back to 2010 in the Philippines. She spent her career in sales and marketing for over 15 years in the travel, fashion, business consulting, events, and pharmaceutical industries. Write your own story. This is where we enable people to share stories from their personal history and heritage and we convert it into a beautiful book for a child, something that a child can engage with.

My mission, historically. is for children or I guess even adults, for people to be aware of their own personal histories, to connect with their own heritage, to know details like where your grandmother went to school, what she did, what adventures she had.

We often talk about a sense of self and this research talks of a sense of trans generational cells, like the sense of being connected deeply to something bigger than yourself, and apparently, this is a very very powerful thing that gives you confidence in your own identity.

It’s really powerful for a child to know that they come from something special which is enough, which is great. They don’t have to change themselves to fit in.

Books are everything like through books, children begin to expose reality beyond what they can actually experience in their everyday life, so that’s really, really broaden their minds, broadens their perspective.

I think paper books will always, always be there. I think they’re not going to be out of fashion

I would really encourage you to dig deeper to talk about something that impacted you or some story that your grandparents used to tell you.

Technology can really assist human creativity, it can really assist human connection. I do plan to explore how much technology we can use to help us do this in a better way.

There are many challenges but if you have a goal in mind, if there’s something you want to achieve, then you work through them.

I think the moment that you become a parent is really pivotal, it turns everything around. It shifts your perspective on life itself.

In 2019, during her summer holiday, Tina was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and underwent medical treatment that included chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy and made it through the other side, in one piece but with some major lessons learnt.

I fell in love with the major. I was so passionate about what I was doing, the people I met, the professors I met, we’re still in touch until now, so yes, it was definitely the right choice for me and this is my story, how I started with nutrition and I don’t regret it one bit.

What they (cancer survivors) need is to feel whole again and to feel normal again and that means, give them some space. If they want to be alone, let them be alone. If they want to do things on their own, even if you don’t think they are able to do it or it will make them tired, let them be.

Nutrition is the core of cancer, be it in the prevention, be it in the treatment or be it in the healing afterwards.

Don’t ignore your deficiencies. Make sure you’re always on top of your health, your iron, your Vitamin D, your B vitamin, do your regular checks.

So many challenges affect how people eat! Keep supplementing yourself whenever needed. Eat healthy, get away as much as possible with processed foods, from junk; for you, for the kids, for everyone.

Start your mammogram earlier than people tell you.

You can't imagine the benefits that seeds and nuts add to your diet every day. Flax seeds especially have so many beneficial and healing effects on the body. 

The treatment is so harsh, that sometimes I would think that the treatment is going to kill me, it’s not cancer that will kill me. 

My advice to anyone going through this (cancer), don’t go online, don’t research your symptoms, don’t research your disease. You will never read what you want and it’s not always accurate, it will really spiral you into a dark hole and you will get nothing out of it in the end.
